Liquid Diet

posted 5th Mar
What are some good suggestions?

I'm going 5 days with a liquid diet. Nothing with seeds, no solids even if they're soft. He even said no mashed potatoes or anything like that even. It really needs to be a liquid consistency with NO chewing.. It was suggest meal replacement shakes, even milk shakes if I want them. Nothing out of a straw either.

I just have no idea what to eat, haha. Broth I guess? Maybe I'll ask if like, tomato soup is okay?

Sigh. lol

What's the reason for the liquid diet?

Then I would just get a blender or a juicer and juice everything!

I know I can't do strawberries or anything with seeds, and he was very clear that even mashed food is not okay. It needs to be pretty much totally liquid to avoid anything getting caught in the areas and possibly infected. All the tasty fruit seems to have seeds, haha. =(

I'm more depressed about the lack of real food I think than anything else.

I would make a lot of soups. Cream of something soups or you could even do potato soup and run it through the blender to make sure there is no chunks.

Yeah, that's going to suck. But at least it's only 5 days. People that break their jaws and have to have them wired shut have to drink through a straw for weeks/months!

Ack! I can't imagine.

I have at least 5 days, then he'll evaluate and see if I can move to pureed or soft foods. And after this, I'll still need to do some root canals and the dental implants and whatnot after I heal. It's going to be MONTHS until it's done. Maybe up to a year. sigh.

Ouch! I'm probably going to have all my back teeth removed. Like, the back two on every side. I'm nervous, but I know it'll be worth it. I've been in pain for a long time and it's going to be worth it. I just keep telling myself that. I can't even really imagine NOT hurting now.

And, maybe my teeth problems have something to do with my other problems. So I'm hoping I'll feel better because my body won't be having to constantly fight off infections in my teeth.

It probably does. I've noticed a huge difference in how I feel.
