Induction at 40 weeks...

So we were due on Saturday and I have been having contractions for weeks but not dilating. We have been stuck at 2 and 70% effaced for weeks, so we are starting an induction tomorrow night. Please no bashing...there are other reasons for us to induce not just being stuck but I am not going to throw them all out here...but anyways my questions is if you have been induced what was it like? They are going to use medicine to ripen my cervix first and I am not sure what to expect.
Any additional things I should pack in our hospital bag?

It is happening in RL so I wasn't sure how people I don't even know would respond to it.

I had Cervidil at night and Pitocin during the day for two whole days and then Pitocin for another half a day until I had a C-section because I wasn't progressing.

I wasn't induced but my nurses gave me pit against my wishes while I was sleeping and it sucked lol. I was aiming for a natural delivery so I didn't have an epi during those contractions. I ended up having a c-section though. My SIL was recently induced though and talked about how awesome it was.

How far along were you when you were induced? Does cervidil feel weird?

I was induced but I was already 3cm and just started pitocin it was a 34 hr process for us. Do a lot of waking when you can stand a lot to help speed things up. As for the bag pack things to do you won't be able to eat anything te whole time so pack snacks for your DH, something to do like a laptop, a phone charger and the obvious ones clothes for baby and you diapers, wipes, shampoo and conditioner, tooth brush, hair brush, etc.

I was induced on my due date. They put cervidel(so?) in at 8pm on August 3rd.
Took it out the next more and broke my water at 8am, also started pitocin.
DS was born at 4:55 that day, I pushed 4 times and he was out ( less then 15 minutes). My labor was a cake walk.

I was induced, I got the cervidil at 7pm, the next morning they started pitocin at 7 am. She was born 7-8 hours later. Everything went great!

I'm not sure if I was considered induced. My water had broken on its own but I was not dilating at all. After 19 hours of maximum dose of Pitocin, I had a csection. I only dilated from fingertip to tight 2 cm. Baby's position was preventing me from dilating. He didn't tuck his chin and was stuck in the birth canal. As much as I wanted a natural drug free vaginal birth, my csection was not as awful as I had expected and I'm just happy my little man is here. Good luck with labor. Thank you so much ladies. The hospital we are going to sometimes uses cytotec so I am unsure of how i feel about that. I am wondering if I can refuse it and request the cervidil.

I was only 37 weeks due to IUGR. No, Cervidil doesn't feel weird at all. It's so so tiny. If you don't progress be prepared for lots of lying on your back strapped to the heartbeat monitors for baby. The nurses said most people progress fine with Pitocin after Cervidil but it was my first baby and only being 37 weeks made it a lot harder.

I did. I researched Cytotec and did not like the idea at all so I said I wasn't comfortable with it and they used Cervidil instead.

I was induced by choice with my 1st and now pregnant with my 2nd I will also be induced by choice. So no bashing here. plus ur past due.

my pitocin started at 6am and gave birth at 7:20p. honestly it wasnt so bad I had the epidural at about 9am everything was smooth.
this time around I will also be speaking to my dr about induction.
I liked that everything was in a controlled enviornment from the beggining.

I was induced a few days after my due date. I had been at 2 cm for a couple weeks. I went in at 6 that morning, they started the IV, the doctor came in broke my water, and 7 1/2 hours later we had a beautiful healthy baby girl. It went a lot smoother and easier than I expected. You mostly read induction horror stories but not all end up bad. Good Luck!
