ambien during pregnancy?

I had a friend suggest ambien, to help me sleep at night. She said its safe during pregnancy. My doctor refuses to even really listen to me about my sleeping problem, but in the past four days, I've literally gotten about 15-20 hours sleep... if even THAT. And I have to get some sleep, its wearing me down and making me more and more moody... but is it safe?? I've never heard that it is. (And I am going to request something because Tylenol PM don't work...it hypes me up. :-/

I have NO idea but I had/have sleeping problems too to where I get about that much sleep also and my Dr. prescribed me phenergen. It's suppose to be for anti nausea but it will knock you how for a good amount of time!

That don't work for me unless i take pain meds with it. N I try not to take psin meds. (Like hydrocodone)

She probably wont, just tell her you need something to help you sleep and that you heard Ambien is safe during pregnancy... I knocked me right out and I took 1 a night for the last 2 months of my second pregnancy

Have you tried taking benadryl or unisom? I have the same problem, which is obviously why I'm up at 4 am lol. My dr prescribed me ambien a couple months ago and I still only get 5-6 hrs of sleep a night. It's so frustrating, I feel your pain mama.

Benadryl has never really had much effect on me. And unisom?? I never thought of that.

Yeah, my ob suggested it. It's pretty much the exact same thing as benadryl. Both used to knock me out but now nothing works.   Ambien will work for a little while but you aren't supposed to take it every night because your body will get used to it.

An online search shows that it is prescribed often in pregnant women but is a category C drug. I think my biggest fear with Ambien and the health of you and your child is more about the things you could do while on ambien. People can do some crazy things on it.

I gotcha. I think that's why benadryl and things like that don't work for me too.

Yeah, I've heard stories. My grandpa was on some sleep pill, idr if it was ambien or something else, but it make him talk oyt of his mind. Like, he told my mammals onr day to get him out of the cage.
