Early Teething or Growing Pains?

posted 5th Mar
How can I tell this diffrence? DS will be 3 mo on the 11th, he was 15 days over due.

Tonight he screamed and screamed for 45 min. I had fed him changed him rocked him tried the swing... the whole 9 yards nothing worked. My aunt told me to give him some baby tylenol so I gave him a dose about 10-15 min later he quit crying and fell asleep.

He's been putting almost anything in his mouth and gumming it not sucking it - the blanket in his car seat, the stuffed animal on his wub-a-nub my finger his hand his bib etc. BUT hes also been cluster feeding and sleeping ALOT more.

Is there a way to tell the two apart or do i just have to wait a few weeks and see?

It could be an awesome combo of both. Sounds more like teething to me, but he could be having a growth spurt on top of it to add to everything.

sounds a lot like teething to me. (Which, he's about at the age that he should be starting to get the teeth soon...) and it could be growing pains, but I really think it's more or less him teething.

Is he really? I thought first teeth came in around 6 months

My son's doing the same thing...constantly wanting to nurse, drooling, sleeping, and wanting to chew on EVERYTHING...we got him a couple freezer teething things and some teething tablets...and he stops fussing. So I'd say he's probably teething...

btw, my LO will be 3 month's tomorrow, so they're roughly the same age.

Joy I am not looking forward to this.

That's usually when they pop through but some kids get em pretty early. My son got his first teeth around 3 1/2 months. Its different with every child.

I feel bad that I gave him the Tylenol. Like I should have tried the gripe water first incase he was just being colicy

My youngest DS started his teething process around 2½-3 m and was having a growth spurt around the same time. It was like the devil himself had possessed our sweet baby boy lol. We use the all natural teething tablets and they're a life saver!!!

Lots of cold toys, those tablets if you feel comfortable using them and lots of sleep is what helped my DS. Also Advil, Tylenol and Motrin never worked for him once I found Advil it was a whole new world. Of course I didn't give it to him at 3 months unless his fever was extremely high.

My little boy started teething at 2 months, his first tooth popped out at 5 months and now he has 16 at 15 months, he also combined teething with a growth spurt, I just fed him when he wanted and made sure he had some pain relief when he was old enough and plenty of teethers to chew on x

I have no idea what gripe water even is   I've seen it at the store and thought the word gripe was funny (I'm entertained by stupid things lol)
I only give my LO it as a last resort when even the teething tablets aren't working...because when he starts screaming too much, he can't nurse or anything

Gripe water - the one i have - is all natural and is supposed to help colicy babies... also takes away hiccups. I only use it for hiccups when I have just fed him or if they sound like hes going to vommit from them other wise i just feed him and they go away/

Is it like water with something in it that makes it gripey or what? haha Sorry, just curious and slightly exhausted.
My LO gets hiccups all the time...especially when he's tired. It's kind of how we tell if he needs to go to bed for the night or not. I may have to try gripe water though when he gets them and it hurts his belly
