BFing and pulling hair out

Hey mamas,
I have an issue. I know toddler breastfeeding acrobatics are normal but my 28 month old has a bald patch now from grabbing and twirling her hair. Whenever she lays down to BF and sleep at night she grabs her hair and pulls it out. When I grab her hand, she tries pulling my hair out. Then she starts reaching up and picking at my face.

I hate that she is ripping her hair out, ripping mine, etc. it's like the only way she can fall asleep. Has anybody else had a toddler with this? I hope it's not a serious problem and she will grow out of it...

Any help would be appreciated. TIA

maybe get her a doll with hair and she can hold that near her face and twirl the dolls hair? Otherwise I am stumped.

I know, there is something called trichotillomania but it seems extreme to say a 2 year old has an anxiety problem IMHO.

She has a doll but she only wants real hair for some reason. I'm hoping maybe when she weans herself it will stop.

I wasn't lucky enough to breastfeed that long (way to go). My nephew used to do that and they would give him a toy so that's why I suggested a doll.

Thanks, its funny it took two months of pumping and feeding before I almost gave up BFing cause she wouldn't latch, then one day it just clicked. Now, she's boobie monster. I am actually hoping to wean soon but since we are co sleeping I think it's impossible, at least til we move next month and she gets her own room and bed.

How long did you BF and if you don't mind, how did you wean..?

I gave up   after about 2 weeks with my son (16 months now) he wasn't getting enough and my nipples were raw and bleeding. I tried different positions but nothing seemed to work. Mostly my MIL talked me out of it that I wasn't making enough for him and he's starving. With my daughter I went through the same pain for a month and gave up. I never had a lactation nurse or support (I was a new mom and didn't know anything) My daughter is 8 now. With my son though if I started to leak I would immediately put him on and he would drink what was there. Wish I could have gone longer.
