what should i expect?? first time natural labor

posted 4th Mar
im by far a first time mom, but this is my first home birth. ive gone pain med free with all but my first, so i know i can handle it, but ive never gone into labor on my own. so i really dont know what early labor feels like. ive only been induced with pit all 4 times, and as anyone whos had pit knows its like going from 0-full blown labor really quickly! so what does early natural labor feel like? ive also heard that a pit labor is way worse then natural labor, how? how diffrent is it? im also planning a water birth, if youve had one what was it like? sorry about all the questions lol

my fourth was natural (no induction method at all) the "early" labor lasted weeks. just random contractions and i was dilated a little every week. i was 6 cms at my doctor appointment and stil not in full blown labor and went home. 2 days later i woke up, and started getting some cramping (needing to poop feeling) and then within 20 mintues it was intense contactions. within less than an hour (barely made it to the hospital) he was crowning. it was painful of course (like all labor is) but it wasnt worse than the other labosr that were kind of induced with my doctor breaking my water to get it going.

My first baby I had no idea I was in labor all night (couldn't sleep through it). The second my water broke naturally an I went from 0 to 30 in those few minutes. Hard contractions. I was 3 mins apart when we left the house and 1 minute apart when we got to the hospital 20 minutes from here lol it was rough! I didn't find it any worse natural compared to pit. Contractions are contractions. They smurfing hurt lol

You will love it, I think. You know you can handle a natural birth with all of the interventions. Doing your own thing will be amazing. I have only one child, a home birth, and contractions started very very gentle (so gentle I slept 4 or 6 hours the night they began) and built until I was ...well... uncomfortable. But there is no underestimating the power of being in control of your environment, and I am sure that you will love it.
My birth video of the home birth is on my page. I can't imagine trying to do that in a hospital. Of course, with your 5th, you might have a tough time getting your midwife there in time. Very excited for you!
