abortion laws in arkansas ...

posted 4th Mar
This stuff is seriously worrying me, they just passed a 20 week and over prevention law, and now are on the edge of passing 12 weeks and over prevention law.. I'm seriously upset about this..oh btw I'm so sorry if this is in the wrong spot however I know it would be attacked in other forums so I wanted it to be debated and protected by the ladies that are as open minded and sweet like yall. But seriously..they are also trying to pass one that states if there is any fetal heart pole or beat detected the woman can not get one...I'm appauled and just plain mad over it. Fetal deformaties and diseases are NOT an exception...so basically they are making aour choices for us? Am I just over reacting to this?

It didn't get passed from my understanding. Mike Beebee veto-ed it.

He did, but the 20 week one was also vetoed and they over rode his decision...the law took effect the same day..I am seriously worried about my kids futures, what if there gf got pregnant and they made the adult choice to terminate, how could someone say that its unlawful for a child to make a decision for their future like that...but not only teenagers, grown women who can jot financially or emotionally handle another or their first one, how can they say that she HAS to or chose an agonizing adoption? It seems so cruel

I think here the limit is 8 weeks. I took a friend once and all the info said if she were past 8 weeks she couldn't have it done. Might've been the particular clinic, though. I didn't know most places allowed after 20 weeks at all unless it was a health concern.

I believe, the limit here in Oklahoma is 12 weeks.

You also have to hear & see the ultrasounds before you get an abortion.
Along with a couple consoling sessions.

it's 20 weeks here and you don't need a reason other than you want one....

Oregon has no abortion restrictions on the books, but I don't understand why someone would wait so long into a pregnancy to choose to terminate unless it was for a medically valid reason?

Has it always been that way or is this new? My sister had an abortion in Tulsa and didn't have to receive counseling. She was in, out, and home within a few hours.

OP, I feel safe with the no abortion after 20 weeks. Most women don't wait that long to receive an abortion. The 12 week, however, is a little iffy in my opinion.

Being concerned about right's being taken away is never an overreaction.

Yes the 20 week one wasn't a huge deal in my opinion with all the scientific research they've done(won't go into that because I want no one to feel wrong for a decision they made) but 12 weeks comes up so fast. And that is a big decision for some women to come up with it, and this other one they are trying to pass is plain ridiculous! Most women don't find out until there is already a heart pole that flickers(.I don't want to say heartbeat because at the point of a fetal heart pole, its not a functioning heart yet)

It's at least 2 years old. Theres only like 2 clinics in Tulsa that will do an abortion

This was over 3 years ago so I suppose that explains it!

I just hope the 20 week ban doesn't apply for fatal defects and whatnot.
