Potty Training a Boy

posted 4th Mar
So DS is 2 years and we'll be potty training soon. So I'm curious how others did it and why.

Did you teach them to sit and pee first or straight to stand and pee? We're thinking we're going to sit and pee first until he is PTed, then when he's 3 or 4 go to standing. Never PTed a boy before so any advice is welcome!
And if you taught to sit and pee first, when did you teach them to stand?

Thanks! We're still going to wait another 2-3 months until he's 2 1/2.

My 5 year old sits to pee. He used to stand because our old house in Japan had a urinal in the bathroom but now he sits. Its probably because he sees his sisters sit to pee and his Daddy is gone a lot now but I kinda figure whatever. Doesn't matter much to me how he pees as long as it's getting in the toilet.

Yeah, I don't mind him sitting as long as he wants really, I'm so worried about when he does start peeing standing up that he will miss the toilet... lol. I want him to have good aim before trying standing.

My son is 2.5 and we've started PTing, but I'm due to give birth any day now, so I'm not pushing it. My goal is to hopefully have him PT'd (at least daytime) but his birthday in Sept. Not sure when I'll start letting him stand to pee, but I guess it doesn't really matter.
