BFIng smoothies

posted 4th Mar
My doctor was telling me oatmeal is going to be one of my best friends when I'm breast feeding.
I HAAAAATTE oatmeal... the texture just makes me so sick.

So he told me I could put it in my smoothies if I wanted to and that would help me out, PLUS it would help get me nutrients when I might not have a lot of time to eat something with 2 active children and a newborn.

Have any of you done this? Is it pretty easy to mask the taste of the oatmeal with the right fruits and veggies?

Yes, I mix dried oats into my smoothies and you can't really taste it at all. I like the texture and flavor it adds!

Ok might be a dumb question... do you cook it or put it in raw?

My doctor said ladies put it in raw, and it gets softer with all the fruit juices/veggies juices/water

Oh, I dunno! Haha I didn't start doing it for that reason. My son's 16 months old and we're still breastfeeding but I've never had any supply issues or did anything to "boost" my supply. Why are you nervous about your supply?

I haven't been able to produce anything with my last 2... so I'm just covering my bases and being prepared.

I've never noticed it helping with my supply when bfing but my supply was already fine. Is he taking right after you give birth?
When I put oatmeal in smoothies I use leftover oatmeal so its cooked then I sprinkle raw oatmeal on top.
the other day I made a berry/peanut butter/oatmeal smoothie so good.
