Is it considered safe?!

posted 4th Mar
My friend Carly wanted her baby to come early, i guess she was just far to impatient to wait until her due date, So about 2 weeks before her due date, she went and walked the mall all day, Cleaned her house, Ran up and down stairs, Took extremely hot baths, etc.

How safe is it to naturally induce yourself?! Granted her baby came out fine and they went home 2 days after he was born,But would you recommend this?

Nothing will happen if the baby isn't ready.

My friend was over her pregnancy and the doctors said they would induce her on her due date which was on a friday and didn't have the baby until Sunday. I honestly believe that her baby wasn't ready to come.

She's just going to exhaust herself.
Doesn't matter what she does, she doesn't decide when it happens, it happens when the baby is ready.
Walking, bouncing on yoga balls, sex, stuff like that only helps when are ALREADY IN labor. Or it helps you to dilate, so it's less you have to do when you ARE in labor. But it's not going to start labor all of a sudden.

She should be taking warm baths and eating ice cream and resting

Not the extremely hot bath part but walking lots and cleaning isn't going to put you into labor unless your body is ready so if someone wants to try and induce labor buy going up and down stairs and shopping then there is nothing wrong with that.

She's not doing anything unsafe. OP You just described a typical day at work for me right up until I gave birth.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with what she did. Lots of women are incredibly active up until they give birth.

Except me... I was too tired for all that nonsense.

No, but in reality that stuff doesnt really "induce" labor. Walking is good exercise and hot showers help with muscle and ligament pain. Real induction is only with drugs, herbal stimulants, accupressure, that kind of thing. Everything else people suggest might prepare your body not put you in labor if you arent ready.

The extremely hot baths... well depends on how hot is extremely hot, bc too much heat can be harmful. Like others said tho, if the baby isn't ready, doing everything in the book isn't going to do anything at all. As lon

This. You can do anything you want, but it's not going to force you into labor until the baby is ready to come out.

and it does sound like an normal's days work!
