Your engagement/wedding ring
posted 4th Mar
So obviously I am completely clueless to this stuff. I don't wear jewelry in general. My engagement ring is pretty much the first ring I have owned. Wondering.... do you keep your ring on all the time? Like, do you sleep with it on and wash your hands with it on? Or do you take it off to sleep, and take it off to swim, and every time you wash your hands? So far, I've only been taking mine off to wash the dishes, shower and wash my hands. I'm just curious what the norm is.

when I was married mine only came off to clean it (rarely) and when I was pregnant and it didn't fit.

So you kept it on when you showered and washed your hands and did the dishes? I'm so paranoid that it's going to get filthy. It's covered by warranty, which means I can take it back to the jewelers every 6 months and they will professionally clean it, and fix anything on it. But I'm still paranoid.

I don't ever wear either one of my rings.

I wear them both all the time. Sleeping, washing, swimming, whatever. However, I made pasta the other day and it got filthy and I got upset so DH just told me to take them off next time I make something that I have to mix/knead with my hands so I will be taking them off for that.

I wore my rings almost all the time, only time they were removed was for cleaning or if I'm fidgeting.

I keep mine on all day every day. I shower clean do dishes sleep everything with them on. When mine does get dirty which is not that after I just go to the jewelere to get it cleaned.

I only take them off to put lotion on. Or if I'm going to be really messy.

So the shampoo and dish liquid or pool chlorine don't ruin the ring or anything? My ring is white gold, which does discolour after a while I heard.

i have my engagement ring since i was 19 and had to get it made as my fingers were so small back then. now though i've put on wait in the last 17 years and its very hard to get it off.

I only wear my wedding band.. sometimes i dont even wear that.
I'd wear my engagement ring but its got a trio of diamonds with tons of claws holding it (i think 8 per diamond?) & they scratch my 5mo/22mo all the time while bathing/changing their diapers so i dont wear it unless im going out because they/ve got some nasty marks from it.

My engagement ring hasn't fit my finger perfectly without bothering the skin since my 2nd pregnancy (over 4 years ago!) so, I only wear my wedding band - which has been resized once. And I wear it all the time. The only time it comes off if I'm dealing with food (like mashing ground beef for meatloaf)....

I wear my wedding band 24/7, I don't ever take it off for any reason. It's just a plain platinum band, no stones or anything. The decoration is the engraving on the inside, which won't get ruined by anything I'm going to do.
My engagement ring has A LOT of stones on it and its really big so I only wear when I'm going out, is too big to wear all the time for house work and stuff, I got it caught on a sheet making the bed once and three of the small diamonds were lost. It's covered under warrantee but I don't want that hassle again.

Honestly mine has already discolored in the back but I think that is also from my hands heating the ring. Mine is white gold too. I just am superstitious and supposedly it is bad luck to take it off. So I don't.
