Cloth diaperers

posted 3rd Mar
Are there any one size diapers that actually fit well from birth? I'm building up my newborn stash now since I didn't start CDing DD until she was about 6 months old, and I don't want to spend too much on newborn diapers, but I also don't want to get anything she won't fit in for a few weeks either. Suggestions? Right now I have a dozen newborn GMD workhorse fitteds and I'm ordering a dozen bamboo prefolds and some covers, but I'd like to get a few more things. My one size stash is pretty decent sized so I won't have to worry about it too much when she's big enough for the fitteds and OS I already have.

I used sunbabies on my daughter from day one... but I also had newborn diapers I made/bought. She was 7 lbs (born 8.3).

Prefolds and thirsties duo wrap. You do have to change prefold size but I only did once. Thirsties also changed once ( my dd is 16.5 months).

Do the size 1 Duo Wraps work well on newborns? I was going to get XS, but if the duo won't be too big they'd make more sense.

I'm just sooooooo cheap. I don't want to pay $15 each for Lil Joeys that she'll outgrow after a couple of months

That's awesome! Where are deals like this when I need them? I guess I can't complain because my GMDs were super cheap. But still.

OS fit my DS great at birth but he was also born 9lbs 10oz. If he had even been a pound lighter I still think they would have fit him

Not really unless you have a huge baby. Even smaller brands of OS dipes are still way too big for newbs. Personally I am a huge fan of plain old prefolds and covers for newborns. They are cheap and so easy to wash. My breastfed newborns literally pooped like hourly so we could easily go through 30 diapers in a day so prefolds are definitely my first choice for newborns.

Sorry late reply, but yes they do. I bought mine when my daughter was about two weeks old and they were awesome. Never had a bfing poop blowout!

My area has a huge crunchy community and a lot of the mom's get together and do big co-op orders frequently. Relatively recently we were able to do a huge co-op on Lil Joey's for like six bucks each so a lot of moms got a full stash of them. They all said they were nice but the convenience of the AIO's weren't really worth them being harder to wash and taking so long to dry. Alva's newborn diapers are apparently great but from what I hear they are really hard to stuff since they're so tiny.
