re: Sneaking food

Oh wow. And I'm assuming that he's already getting the exact same food? That almost sounds like a jealousy thing with the little sibling, KWIM?

The doctor said it was probably due to the emotional trauma of their "parents" being in and out of their lives for visits and what not and not seeing them for months but telling them they are their mom and dad when they see my parents as their mom and dad. As well as their parents telling them they are going to take them to live with them. Even if they are with one family for most of their life most parents with children in foster care cause them a lot of unnecessary emotional trauma. With the little boy we had who was autistic that was the first thing the doctor said was that it was probably a defiant behavior because of his autism but came to the conclusion of an eating disorder after allowing him to eat as much as he wanted and seeing him eat until he was sick and still saying he wanted more food.

It's a little piggy thing, lol. He eats really fast and the younger eats slow so he eats all of his and then snatches brothers.

Lol.

My aunt is a SAHM and she literally makes 3 different meals. One for each of her boys and one for her and my uncle, when he's home. The boys have just different enough taste that usually the autistic one doesn't prefer his brother's food. Lol.

Could be a sensory thing- he doesn't feel full because of spd and then he constantly eats. Or could be a control thing many kids with ASD need to control certain aspects. Either way I'd be ecstatic if my ASD kid would actually eat, so we have the opposite problem, lol. Maybe make a food chart and show him when he IS allowed to eat, or just allow him to eat as much as he needs as long as it is healthy foods-like fruit and veggies and lock away the goodies.
