Destination Wedding

Has anyone had one?

How hard are they to plan? I heard they're cheaper.

Im having one in June. My mom has done most of the planning but it seems like it has been a pain in the ass for her. I wanted to do the majority of the planning but they need to have hour long "planning session" phone calls every few weeks and I just dont have the time working full time. They are VERY detail oriented though, thats why it has taken so many emails and phone calls. No its not cheaper, its going to cost about the same for 50 guests there as it would have for 200 guests at my country club up here. I guess that would depend on your location though. Where are you thinking about doing it?

Im hiring a wedding planner for mines. Shes 300-1500 dollars. The package i picked was 800 dollars and the company shes associated with provides the place, the food, the minister, the cake, the pictures, video, reception hall and you can customize your package.

I dont exactly have a budget yet. Or a guest list or anything, I'm just trying to point out to my SO the benefits of a Destination wedding. I've always wanted one, and he's not really into it.

My sister had one in Maui and they were there ten days, and had dinner/drinks for about 60 people. My parents paid about 12000 for them, including hotel and flight.

We went to Sandels in st. Lucia, our wedding package was 8000$ and our trip for 12 days was 6500$.

WOW. both would be absolutely gorgeous!

I have barely any family and not that many friends, so i'm thinking my guest list would be pretty sad.. my SO will absolutely have way more people than I would. but even then it wouldnt be that many

Just look around at the hotel websites they will have all the packages. The most expensive part honestly is your stay there lol. I reccomend sandals because its all inclusive and they do have wedding packages for under 1000$.

My sister is having a desination wedding in November and my other sister and I are her matrons of honor and we are also both due with babies in may. Apparently the wedding is less expensive for the bride and groom, but without a question it is WAY more expensive and inconvenient for the entire wedding party and all the guests. Of which they have 4 attendants each and are inviting about 100 people to the wedding. It's in St. Thomas.

I know my friends would love a reason for a vacation.

If done right destination weddings are more expensive because the bride and groom are supposed to pay lodging and transportation for guests including food and drink.

Depends on what you want really. SO and I decided last week we wanted to get married on the beach during family vacation this year. Which is mid March!! I planned it, paid for it and we will be getting married this month on the 22nd. Overall it cost me (for a simple ceremony) and my wedding dress, about $1000. Not bad for last min. Lol!! I'm so dang excited I can't wait!!
