At what age did your child move to a toddler bed? My Lo is only 14 months but I'm considering trying to transition her. Her crib is set to the lowest setting and she has figured out how to rock the mattress. While it doesn't rock much, when she pushes it to full swing, she would have enough room to get her leg stuck in the side. I thought about stuffing towels on the sides to prevent movement but she would just pull them back out. While she hasn't tried to climb out yet, she just reached the height where it'll be easier for her to try. Maybe I'm being over paranoid....

Do you think it's too soon? When did your child transition?

It depends on if your child is ready my oldest went in hers with no problems at 15 months but my youngest didn't go in hers until 20 months

We waited untill 18 months and after the first night, he did great. I personally think that 14 months is a bit early, but I have heard of people successfully doing it at that age. Just do what you think is best. If LO isnt ready than you can always switch back.

Grant didn't go into a toddler bed until he was almost 4. He could climb out of his crib and whatnot since like 2, but he never did until then. When it got unsafe was when we transitioned him. He's still not potty trained, so I didn't see a need to do it until it got unsafe. Lilly is just now a year, and so very very independent I feel like she will be PT soon so we will be in the market for a bed for her probably by her 2nd birthday

I really think this is what we are going to do. Next year at taxes is bed time. I am getting a new bed, and the kids will be too. I think I will get them both twins with trundles, that way when we have spend the nite company they have a place to sleep.

Thanks for the opinions! I'm thinking about trying with the crib mattress on the floor where her crib was and seeing how it goes. Like some of you said, if it doesn't work, then we can always put her back. We're also TTC for number 2 so hopefully if this does work out it'll make it all the easier later. Thanks again ladies!

We did it with our daughter at about 26 or 27 months. She's about 30 months now and wakes up super early and usually opens her door and lets herself downstairs. A lot of times we don't even hear her do it through the monitor. =/ lol
