I don't think I'd be able to let them move into my house. I realize that's my son, and my grandbaby...but smurf. They did it on purpose. They would have to live in the real world. I realize I'm probably going to be the unpopular opinion but :shrug: that's how I feel.

What can you do? The damage is done. Support your son the best you can, your grandchild, and the grandchilds mother.

But where would they go at that age? You would let them bounce around friends houses and live in their car? With a baby?? Just curious

I feel like the mom handled it well. She knew what's done was done and she cant change it so she supported him. That's nice. The only thing id do differently is encourage them to find their own place HOWEVER if they both were pursuing college degrees I would allow them to live with me until they graduated and help w their expenses as long as they were enrolled in school full time.... And id demand to see all of their grades. If they weren't passing classes id kick them out.

I would obviously be very upset and disappointed in my son and this girl. And in this situation where it was too late to prevent, I would let her move in if she is a nice girl. I mean, at least in this case, he boy has a job and seems fully willing to accept responsibility, and he at least has SOMETHING going for him. I would try to give them every opportunity to succeed and be in direction of moving out and getting careers and providing for their baby. I think she is handling it well IMO. I applaud her for not flying off the handle.

Teen girls have been trying to her knocked up way bride these shows ever existed. The shows have nothing to do with lonely little girls looking for love in a child.
Hell my gma had a best friend in hs that got knocked up on purpose and that was 57 years ago.

Those shows do NOT make the teen mom life look glamorous lmao

I would be upset obviously. I would tell them about all their options and not try to sugarcoat anything about what can happen should the choose any of them. I think this mother is taking everything better than most. If they choose to keep the baby their lives aside from work and school would be over if they lived in my house. I would also charge them a little something for rent like she has. I'd see what his checks were like before I decided on an amount. I would also be willing to lower the amount and provide free child care if they went to college or trade school.

Yeah that would be my stipulation too. Unless my son got a really good/secure job right out of hs. Then I'd make him work and she would have to go to school in order to keep living there.

Haha. As much as he would deserve/need it...shes already knocked up. What would it help? Hell, I'd have to refrain from giving the girlfriend one too...she was just as much a part of it.

Honestly...yeah probably. They made the child on purpose...I think I'd have to let them get a taste of the real world before I just went flinging my doors open and saying oh sure come live with me!! Or like someone else said, offer to help pay for an abortion.
