Soy milk? & milk ques's!

posted 2nd Mar
This might be a stupid question.
BUT. Is it okay to give my 1 year old SOY milk? Like, vanilla soy milk?
We are on our last can of formula, and we are doing half and half. (As in half whole milk and half soy formula) He has been doing great with it. He also is on Soy formula. I dont see why it wouldnt be okay but i just wanted to ask. I wanted to give him something other than water and formula/milk. Is soy milk healthy for him?

And. he only drinks milk. No juice, cause he doesnt like it. and even if he did, i would give it to him once in awhile as a treat. Thats just my choice. I also offer water everyday, but he takes sips here and there he doesnt really just drink it. But its always available. So my question is. is there such thing as TOO much milk? Like, he loves it! Is that bad if thats basically all he drinks? Should i only give him a certain amount a day? He also still wakes up here and there for a bottle of milk. he sleeps thru the night, but wakes up early morning and wants a bottle of milk and then he will fall back asleep. (we are trying to wean off the bottle but we are having troubles in that area atm lol) Anything else i could try giving him besides milk, water, and juice? Is soy milk a good choice?

Thank you!!!

Soy milk is extremely sugary and high in the female hormone estrogen. I wouldn't give it to my child.
Goat milk and nut milks like almond are better than soy, just watch the sugar content.

The one i bought is sugar free. If it had sugar in it I wouldn't give it to him. But I see what u r saying. And thank u for suggesting almond milk! That does seem like a better choice.

The hormones have been linked to infertility so the sugar really isn't the only issue. I've heard great things about almond milk

hell be fine with soy milk. i use to baby sit kids who HAD to have soy milk. if your worried about the stuff in it just dont do it all the time. he doesnt NEED milk. i would def try a few things but soy millk and almond milk and that stuff is pricey. he doesnt need it. as long as he eats yogurt and cheese and try cereal with milk. hell be good. Hannah and lexi are fine. she doesnt drink milk. some people just DO NOT LIKE MILK lol.
but like i said dont give up. maybe if he does like the soy or something do a cup a day? so hes getting the good stuff. not too much of the "bad stuff" if YOU think its bad for YOUR child that is. AND so you dont need to buy it all the time. Aidan gets a cup sometimes 2 a day of milk. and some cheese and sometimes yogurt or milk and cereal. other than that its water. and like a cup or 2 of watered down juice a day. HE LIKES milk. and i still dont give it to him EVERY time he has a drink

Ethans just starting to drink just milk. But it can't be super cold Otherwise he won't drink it. I'm just wondering about other drinks cause he only drinks milk and sips of water. Cause he doesn't really like water. I keep offering it everyday though. And soy and almond milk is kind of like a treat forhim

Does he eat a balanced diet otherwise? Cow milk isn't necessary, you have to drink a lot of milk to get the same amount of calcium as you get from dark and leafy green vegetables.
