Cheap, or smart?

posted 2nd Mar
DS is 16 months and grew out of his soft soled shoes so he needed a new pair. So I "handed down" my 2.5 year olds sneakers, and got her the same pair she had before but in a bigger size.
Is that being cheap, or being smart?
They were only $5 lol. I just can't see paying so much for shoes for a kid. And, my 2.5 year old loves these sneakers, so I think she's pretty happy

I don't think it's being cheap.

cheap is smart!

they look brand new, it would be wasteful to not get more use out of them

I kinda think its cheap. At 16 months I think they need a better walking shoe, like a striderite.

Stride rites are expensive. I'm sorry but I don't even pay that much for my own shoes lol.

DS has been walking since he was 10 months old. He's fine.
These are flexible and not stiff at all. They're like Keds.

Plus, with how fast DD is growing, they were getting a little too tight on her anyway...And DS has room to grow in them, and so does DD in her new pair.

And I mean, she didn't even notice, because they're her "favorites" lol. Just a little bigger.

smart. I don't see the point in spending a whole bunch of money in clothes and shoes for rapidly growing children. I second hand shop and I have a lot of friends and family who give me stuff that their children don't wear. As long as it's in great condition then why not? I do buy brand new stuff but I will never buy 40-50 dollar shoes like some of my friends do. My bestfriend has probably wasted 600-700 dollars in shoes in 2 years cuz all she buys her son is jordans, nikes, and vans and she doesn't like hand me downs.

I don't think they are that expensive, I just bought DD a pair for 19$. I dunno I don't have a problem paying any amount for shoes, I love good shoes. But if you like them and he likes them then it works.

Yeah, I grew up "thrifty" and cheap, I could never imagine spening that much on kids shoes lol.

I think it's smart. I don't buy expensive clothes or shoes for my kids. I mean I just bought DD four pairs of jeans in September and its march and I've already had to buy more because the others are to short And I save DD's not as girly clothes for DS. They outgrown things before they are even worn.

Eh some people like shoes. My 3 year olds shoe collection is vast. He has all DC and Nike. Dh gets him special edition DCs all the time. The kid picks shoes over toys. If she can afford it then oh well.

That being said all of DS1's shoes are immaculate and his little brother will probably end up with some of them.

The ones I got my DD were 40 bucks, but they are her first walking shoes. They are the old school looking stride rites. She walks better in them.
