Booster seat Q!!

posted 2nd Mar
I've been trying to find online the TEXAS laws(not sure if it's the same country-wide or not) on age and weight regulations for booster car seats. I know the ones I've seen say they have to be at least 30lbs. But what about age? Is it different for regular boosters and the ones with a back?
TIA!!

I thought it was 4yrs & 40lbs everywhere? Although keeping them in a 5pt harness for as long as the seat will allow it is obviously the safest. My sons seat goes up to 65lbs with the harness. He's almost 4 now & about 38lbs, so he has a long way to go still.

That link may not be the correct info per state. What they have there is different than our states site ( for my state)

Nope. Here they say just follow the manufactures requirements which for a high back booster is like 3 yrs 30lbs and 3 ft

Isn't it always best to go by the seat though?

Really? Wow. My (almost) 4yr old still seems so little & fragile, I couldn't imagine putting him in a booster with a seat belt already

You were right! I found the TX DPS site that says differently than the site on the link.

You can keep her in the seat that she is in until she maxes out the requirements.

Yeah my 3 yr old would totally just slip through it cause she is tiny even for meeting the seats requirements

Yeah that's my plan. That's why I'm glad my seat goes up to 65lbs, who knows how old he'll be then.

but until they are four they need to be in a high back booster with the 5 point harness at 4 they no longer require the harness
