Glucose test....

posted 2nd Mar
Its been a long time since I posted but baby #3 is on her way. I had my glucose test today and I have to wait for offical results till monday but the nurse told me i should go ahead ans start my research into the subject just in case because my sugar didnt drop at all this morning test was at 10 and my sugar didnt drop till nearly 6 o'clock tonight and when it did i was sick to my stomach and it took all i had to eat something let alone get out of bed in the first place tonight...so for all you ladies who've delt with this one how did your tests go and two how did you deal with GD?

i had it with my first and again with this one

i cut out soft drink , just have the diet ones now , and that took awhile to get use to lol
i cut out white bread , i now eat multigrain
read the labels on the food you do eat and check out the carbs , dont worry so much about the sugar as thats in the carbs
try not to eat or drink anything that is about 28 per serving

potatos and pasta are only a maybe food and just a cup full

i have to test my blood two hours after every meal
so far ive only had one high level and that was because i was getting cocky and ate white bread and a small cupcake

goodluck

My GD in my first pregnancy was so bad, that i had to shoot insulin. Combined with the morning sickness i was constantly too low. I had to see a specialist and be on a strict diet. It is so much to know about GD, that i dont think ur research will cover.

Well My family has a history of diabetes ive grown up around it so the counting carbs and checking sugar levels isnt new to me...im not going to lie though it all freaks me out a bit but i know i have enough knowledge collectively with my family to beat it. how did your test go when you guys found out?

Quoting Mrs. Anna-Mae:" Well My family has a history of diabetes ive grown up around it so the counting carbs and checking sugar ... [snip!] ... a bit but i know i have enough knowledge collectively with my family to beat it. how did your test go when you guys found out?"

with my first child they didnt find it till i wa 35 weeks , and i had her at 38 via c section

because of having it with my first they tested me at 11 weeks , and they found it then
i really hated that drink lol

i had my ultrasound on friday and this one is measuring fine , my first was measuring big , she was 8 14 at 38 weeks

so hopefully my diet is going to keep me from doing shots , but there is also a tablet that you can have instead of the shot

I also had GD with my last pregnancy, however this time around (I'm 28weeks) I passed my tests and no GD! I thought it was the worst thing ever to have GD but realized it wasn't bad at all.....it has a "silver lining." I was referred to a nutritionalist who really helped a lot! They went over how to eat and control blood sugar, even gave some meal plan ideas. Basically you need to watch your carbs, my nutritionalist wanted me to keep my carbs to approx 20/serving and make sure I was eating something basically every 2 hours.......ex. small breakfast 2 pcs toast w/peanut butter.....2 hrs later a snack of yogurt & string cheese, then lunch of grilled chicken salad....2hrs later another snack of fruit....then dinner of grilled chicken, 1/2c potato's and a veggie.....and end the night with another snack. At first it was strange cuz I felt like I was eating all the time however your body adapts and it becomes normal and maintains good blood sugar all day long! In the end, the "silver lining" was that after delivery I actually weighed less than before I became pregnant so it was so easy to lose my "baby weight" in the healthiest way possible! Also, because I breastfed I continued to eat this way which was also very good for baby as well.
I would say, don't be discouraged at all with GD....it just takes a bit to get use to

Nothing I seem to be doing with this one is helping keep the sugars low so they have raised my glyburide 3 times and I am now up to 15 mg but it seems to be doing the trick. I was tested right after I found out I was pregnant since I've had it in my two previous pregnancy.
