re: Weight gain

posted 2nd Mar
I'm 23 weeks and my nurse said I've gained 1lb. Personally even if my doctor wasn't worried I would try to monitor my diet a bit better with a gain like that over all. Just to be eating healthier and if you are, then I wouldn't worry. Some gain a lot, some lose the whole time and some literally only gain from baby, fluids and such.

Well with my son I gained a total of 40 lbs and at the end I'd come in every week and gain 2 or 3 lbs... Yeah pretty bad. But I was really skinny before I got pregnant with it. If you were lil pre baby I wouldn't trip otherwise yes I would just slow down. With my daughter I gained 20 and she was big 9 lbs 4.7 oz. I'm hoping I don't gain much with this one.

Yup 1lb. I only gained 20 with my son and he was 9.7lbs lol.

Not saying you do this, but a lot of women see pregnancy as an excuse to indulge every whim and craving. I eat the exact same as when not pregnant, even less actually because over all my appetite per sitting is less. Try substituting things for cravings too. When I want something cold and sweet I grab an apple or orange from the fridge instead of ice cream. I may eat 2 of them before my craving is satisfied but it's way better than a big bowl of ice cream too often.

Every once in a while I admit I can't help myself but I don't feel like I stuff my face because I'm pregnant. I eat more fruits and veggies now and I also can't eat as much at one sitting anymore. I'm not perfect and still have little nummies sometimes but not any more at all than pre pregnancy. Maybe a food journal would help? You think?

It may. I honestly eat crap pregnant or not so I'm not perfect either by far. But I do know being heavier that if I did gain quick I'd probably flip out and boycott my normal menu lol. I've put a limit of 25lbs on myself. I have a friend though that's skinny and gained like 60 lbs. It's just all a matter of a person's body.

Depending on weight pre pregnancy it may or may not be a big deal. I know at one point in my pregnancy I had gained 5 pounds in 2 weeks. Came in two weeks later and had lost 7 pounds. A one time gain of that much isn't a really big deal. There are so many things that can cause your weight to fluctuate. If it is a continual weight gain then there may be something else going on. If you are concerned bring it up with your doctor, and see if they are concerned.

I gained 5 or 7 in 2 weeks towards the end then next visit lost like 2. I think that was my biggest jump.

I was almost 20 lbs under weight before my 1 st daughter who is almost 9... i gained 62 lbs & was 10 days late. My son who is st 4 i gained 46 lbs & was 4 days late. My 2nd daughter is 2 & i gained 35 l s & was 4 days late. Basically every pregnancy is different. I have gained 2 lbs so far with this pregnancy & i am 17 weeks already
I crave alot of salt & vinegar chip & picled sausages. I eat whatever i want & dont worry about the gain. If u beastfeed & are dedicated to loosing you're post baby weight & you're not all talk & no walk then who cares how much u gain. Enjoy being pregnant...feeling new life growing & moving inside of u. Its amazing & totally unreal. Congrats.
