Belly button

I know this is my first post, but I've talked to all the mothers in my area and no one has ever had this problem, so I thought I would ask you moms. I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my first child, and my belly button has split open. It's actually split at the "seams" and bleeds a lot. Has anyone else ever had this happen? TIA!

I would bring it up with the Dr. Have you been using any kind of lotion throughout your pregnancy?

Oh man, that sounds painful! I'm sorry! Mine has gotten irritated but nothing like you describe. Have you been doing anything at home to treat it?

I use triple antibiotic cream, and I use a regular cocoa butter lotion at night. I've had trouble with my belly button before the pregnancy, but it has never busted open. Just seems odd to me.

Maybe try coconut oil. It's antibacterial as well.

I would definitely tell my doc about it asap. That's not right at all. Keep it clean until you can get to your doctor about it. Don't want that to get infected. Good luck!

Thank you. I see the dr. Tuesday, but am going to call Monday morning. I have a bandaid on it, and I keep triple antibiotic ointment on it, so hopefully it will be okay! Thank you all!
