Have to brag

posted 1st Mar
My oldest just started kindergarten this year. We struggled at home trying to get him ready for school. He just did not want to learn anything from me. He would literally just shut down no matter how I went about it. But now that he has started school it has been amazing! I always knew my son was smart he just couldn't learn from me. He is now one of the top spellers in his class. Every week he brings home 100's or 90's on his spelling tests. He got all M's (mastery) on his report cards this last time. An M is equivilant to an A. He write me and his daddy notes all the time. He may not spell every word correctly in the notes but he tries so hard. I downloaded a math app on my phone that he blew through in minutes. And the best part......He read his 2 year old brother a bed time book tonight. I am so very proud of him!

That's so great!

I'm hoping DD1 has the same results when she starts school. I've been trying to get her to write letters and stuff, she just really doesn't try. I mean, she'll try for literally 2 seconds, throw the writing utensil down, and say she can't do it. I try to tell her she can if she tries but she refuses. So frustrating. The main reason I decided to let her go to Pre-K because we were considering homeschooling before.

Well done little dude!
It could have been that he has a different learning style to you (auditory, visual or kinaesthetic) and his teacher has tapped into the perfect way to get through to him.

Either way, yay it's so good to see him succeeding

Oh I am sure. I am not a teacher and do not claim to be. I have never been in a childcare position. I am just trying to do the best I can with what I know. I truly think his teacher has brought something out of him.
