Sick and Doctor did nothing!!

I have NEVER had a doctor as bad as this one. I moved to CT almost a year and a half ago from NY and found this local doctor. Well im almost 33 weeks pregnant and have been sick since the day after my baby shower. Shower was Saturday and I woke up Sunday with a sore throat. Well I figured it would go away on its own, but it hasnt. My throat only hurts in the morning. My symptoms are slight sore throat, pressure in the head, stuffy/slightly stuffy nose. Basically a slight head cold. Well I figured id go to the doctors, she would swabb my throat to make sure its nothing bad and give me a antibiotic to get rid of this thing. Well she looked at my throat, said well it dosnt look like streap, no swab, checked my ears, nose and lungs. Said my nose looked sinuses looked swollen but "it looks like your towards the end of this thing". Told me that if it gets worse come in. Then left. WTF!! I came in because it is getting worse, as in im waking up feeling like smurf. Ive been sick for almost a entire week!! I am SO switching doctors!! This is crazy. Im sitting here sick knowing that I could have had a antibiotic in me already but this doctor is horrible!!!

Its probably something viral in which case antibiotics dont work any way. I really see nothing wrong with what the doctor did. Colds get worse before they get better.

sounds normal to me. the only time I get swabbed is if I have the tell tell white gunk in my throat

I've had a Dr. look at my throat and tell me it didn't look like strep either, then she swabbed and sure enough.. it was strep. Is there a different doc u can go to? She should have swabbed you

That sounds normal. Drs only swab if it looks like you have an infection. Happens all the time here

Sounds normal...and sounds like a virus and a good doctor isn't going to prescribed antibiotics for a virus. I had 3 head colds in a matter of 6 weeks and never was prescribed antibiotics because they were just viral head colds.   Pregnancy is going to prolong viruses and bugs

colds normally last 10 days, I wouldn't expect her to do anything yet since she can't do anything for you for a cold. Plus if it is 'something bad' then you'd know it by now, if it's bacterial and you've had it for 7 days then you'd be sick as a dog and likely in a great deal of pain.

I don't like taking medicine anyways -- especially while pregnant.

  plus when pregnant everything is swollen. Even your sinuses some times. It can cause stuffy/runny noses, pressure and sore throats.

She sounds like a great doctor to me, the kind you can trust to not overprescribe or be a pill pusher.

There are other things that indicate strep, and it doesn't seem as if you were exhibiting them. You said your throat is sore only in the morning, head pressure, and a stuffy nose. If you had strep, your throat would be sore all day. It sounds as if it really is just a cold or possibly a virus. For a virus, antibiotics won't do any good anyway.

It will go away eventually but there was really nothing the doctor could give you for virus. No one likes being sick.
