When your child turned 3...

posted 1st Mar
how much could he/she count to?
my son will be three may 4th and can count to six, though he occasionally skips two. lol. we are practicing him counting to ten.
he is really behind verbally and my mother in law is always poking and prodding me about it whenever I see her. but my inlaws dont see my son much (not since december) so they dont see the leaps and bounds he is making.

where is your child at with these things when s/he turned 3?

My DD will be three in June and can count to 10 on her fingers and recognize the numbers, and she knows all her ABCs.

She doesn't do it perfect every time, but she can.

DS will be 3 on March 24th. We actually overheard him counting to himself yesterday and made it up to 20. He mixed a couple of the teens up, but we were so shocked!

He's always been a little more on the ''advanced'' side with speech and learning. DD seems to be more on the ''normal'' side lol

She could count up to 14 without skipping around on the numbers and can recognize up to 10. Some days though, she won't if you ask her too lol

DS doesnt know his abc's yet. withe being so behind in speech we have been focusing on that more than anything this last year. He is finally wanting to talk.
at first, he refused to even try to say anything. we got him around other kids more and got a speech therapist and now he repeats everything we say and the songs on his cartoon show!
like the song 'i feel better now' on doc mcstuffins. I think the song goes to fast for him, but he says 'better....better NOW!' its so cute. haha.
and sometimes when I tries to tell us something he doesnt think before he talks, so it comes out as baby talk with a couple understandable words.

my youngest is 2 and could count to 13 since around 21 mos. she recognizes all the numbers from 1-10 and most of the abcs. my son will be 4 next week. i can't remember exactly how he was, but i think fairly similar to my daughter. but mine have both been really early talker which i think makes a difference. if kids aren't as verbal early on they'll prob'ly be a bit slower with some things like counting and abcs. but they all learn at a different pace. your lo will get it eventually. =)

That's awesome

My DS is 16 months and still only says mama, dada, bye bye, and "ah gah" for all gone
My daughter was saying more words at 10 months. But DS walked earlier.

yeah,. I am not as worried about it but I wish I could tell me in laws to shove it. lol.
my mother in law is nice about it, my father in law is a douche. he tried to tell me "your son should be able to say at least 100 words you dont work with him enough"
dude, your NEVER around. he can say so much more than 100 words.
so he said, can he say them all unassisted?
yes, he can. but when douche comes over he gets shy because his grandfather never visits.

/vent. sorry. I know he is doing so much better even if he is behind.
