start to hold his/her own bottle?

My son is 5months and he has NO interest in holding it. I honestly think he thinks it's a joke.
During the day I feed him his bottle in his bouncer, that just something he wanted to do a while back bc he wouldn't let ANYONE hold him to feed him.
Well, he will hold the bottle in place with one finger while I hold it, or just chill with his hands above his head watching tv, or me, or anything else in the room while I feed him.
It's even to the point where he will cup his feet around the wrist of the hand holding the bottle and he will guide my hand to his mouth or out of his mouth when he wants to take a small break in between ounces. If I hold his feet down he just wont eat at all.
So as a way to maybe perk his interest in holding the bottle I will prop it up but I stay right beside him to grab it if need be. But then that fails bc he won't touch it at all and will just lay there eating and watching tv.

He is just so ornery he'd rather play, and laugh while eating than do any "work" and try to learn to hold the bottle on his own.
Which 5months might be too soon to be doing it but like i said he isn't even interested in the slightest.

My daughter is 5.5 months and sometimes holds it. She doesn't do a very good job though, she usually ends up knocking it out of her mouth.

Why do you want him to hold the bottle himself? I do not understand?

DS didn't start having an interest in holding it by himself until well after he started crawling. I think around 8 months or so. He figured out he didn't have to tilt it, he could just suck and eventually get his milk. (We use the playtex drop ins) He would do it here and there by himself, but we also never pushed it for him to hold it by himself.

I'd just do it. I mean he's 5 months old, don't push the growing up stuff. That time flies by so fast.

I'm not pushing it on him, he was showing interest a while back, and with him trying to use his feet i'd rather divert that and get him to use his hands. The other day he actually fed himself with his feet for a good 2 mins.

mine desperately wants to do it but he hasnt quite got the coordination so he mostly knocks it out. He will pull it away when hes had enough and reaches to pull it in when im putting it to his mouth. He wants to be so independent. I love feeding him and will be sad when he doesnt need me to do it anymore.

edit...hes 6 months next week

Haha never. But she was breastfeed
Mostly. She wouldn't take a sippy until 12 months and she won't drink out of one unless its a straw one (she's 16 months)

mine does that also he will grab my hands and put the bottle in his mouth or take it away and he can somewhat hold the 4oz bottles if he is attempting at that particular feeding, but he can't hold the 8oz size bottles, they are just to long for him.

well that saved you of having to break her of drinking out of a sippy when you start to use an actual cup!!
