opks and fmu

i have seen several people on here say that it is best not to use fmu for opks but the instructions in by box (its the up and up target brand) specifically say to use fmu so now im confused! lol what is the reason behind not using fmu?

Because it's not accurate.
Usually you will have too much of the hormone stored up in your urine from not releasing it for 6+ hours, or too little. So it might make it look positive or negative when it's not.

You secrete less LH when you are sleeping so that's why they say to wait at least until SMU.

I've heard a lot of different things. I've used FMU with opks and my results have been pretty accurate. I actually did one this morning. It was positive which I don't know how but it was. A dark positive too. My cycles are wacky this month I guess. I'm also twinging on my right side. But if it says to on the box then I suggest go with that.

yeah i just decided to do fmu and then do another one later in the afternoon to be sure. and so far both results each day have been the same. although, the afternoon one was just a little lighter a few times. I finally got a negative today after 4 days in a row of positive opk and the one today was just barely negative. good luck to you ttc!

Thank you. I got an appointment on the 27th to see the fertility specialist. It'll be 2 days after we come back from vacation so that'll be good. I just hope once they find out my issue they can get things started to get me my BFP. Right now waiting on AF to come. Wondering when that'll be.

What's the best brand of opk's to use? Or what kind would you all recommend? I'm wanting to order a large quantity on the internet and get this going, bc the old fashioned way isn't working for us and it's frustrating!

I use the Answer brand from walmart. They come 20 to a pack for like 20.00. It includes a pregnancy test too. Don't feel bad. You've only been trying since September. It takes healthy couples a year or more to get pregnant. I have PCOS which is probably the reason we're not yet preggo. I feel like I'm failing my husband. I feel like I'm broken. I use the opks too even though I have PCOS. They've been pretty accurate for me so far but my cycles are messing up again which is throwing off my opks. I just took one earlier and it was positive which is not right. I should be seeing AF in a couple of days.
