All Natural Labor and Delivery?!
posted 1st Mar
I am very determined to go all natural, But i want some feedback on exactly how was your labor and delivery? was it really rough?! I do not have a very high pain tolerance, but i dont want drugs, My biggest fears are an episiotomy (sp?)
Tearing, & having a csection :/

I was induced and my labour was cake, even with the pitocin.. But because I was induced I didn't sleep at all for two days and was so exhausted I got an epi 1 hour before I was ready to push. I went from a 5cm-10 in that hour. The dr thinks it happened so fast because I was able to relax. You can do it all natural ! I would have if I had gotten some sleep lol.

I'm going for a natural labor and delivery with this one, too. I wanted one with my last but I had to be induced. I didn't tear or have an episiotomy though with my last. There are certain things you can do to avoid those things like controlled pushing and perineum supports, compresses, etc.

Lol. This happened to me. After 48 hours of labor (ds was face up and nobody knew yet) and no sleep, I got an epi. 45 minutes later I went from a 5 to a 10... Next baby will be natural.
(hopefully!)

I've giving birth 4 times without pain meds. Yes it hurt like hell but to me it was worth it. But my last 3 all had a shoulder stuck on their way out.

I was induced. I wanted to go natural. I discovered I have a super low pain tolerance so 7 1/2 hours later I was screaming in pain in the fetal position & had to be given the epidural while curled up like a shrimp. The episiotomy did NOT hurt because they gave me the epidural first. I was terrified of it before I went. I really wanted to go natural but with an induction, it wasn't gonna be possible for me. I at least tried though & you should too! Do what you want & let no one persuade you to do different. Goodluck

Don't get induced, unless it is absolutely medically necessary.
Tearing is a better option than having an episiotomy from everything that I've read and everyone with whom I've talked. I didn't have a perineal tear, but I did have one labial tear.
Imagery helped me a lot.

Ive had two natural labor and deliveries.
I was in labor with Addison for over 72 hours, the first 65 hours being at home, then the rest in the hospital since we got there at 6cm. She was 9lbs, but face up which is why they believe it took so long. I was extremely tired and hungry, but got a second wind when it came time to push. Her head was 14 1/2inches so I needed an episiotomy after pushing for 30 minutes. After they cut me, her head popped right out. The contractions were unbearable.
If I ever push for that long again, I will opt to be cut. For me, the tear and episiotomy healed up just fine.
I was only in labor with Asher for about 6 hours, knew for sure when they started getting unbearable around 11:30...got to the hospital at 8cm, had him 30 minutes later at 4:43 am. We were constantly calling familly to wake someone up...thank the lord my sister finally answered to come stay over here with Addison since she was sleeping.. hehe He was 8.4 and is head was only 13 inches so I just had a small tear on the inside of my vagina. Just stung when I peed. My body started cleaning itself out when we got there...I just had to sit and wait through contractions, not knowing I was 8cm, I was scared to push on the potty because I didn't want to have a baby in a toilet..
The contractions were unbearable and extremely painful. Sounds cliche, but worth it. Will go natual again if we have another.
My water never breaks until it's time to push.

The same exact thing happened with me. I got mine after 30 hours of labor, and only getting 4 hours the night before labor started. By the time I got my epidural, I was 9 cm. I was having 5-10 seconds between my contractions and was literally falling asleep in that time. I was a wreck lol

I've had two all natural labors and deliveries. I also hate needles lol.
With our oldest I started having consistent back pain around midnight or so. I could time the back ache pain, but doctor said on phone I probably wasn't in active labor because I was talking through the pain. I started shaking, husband was getting freaked out about it and called again. Doctor said I could go in but probably wasn't that far along, I was still talking. We went and I was 9 cm dilated. I smiled and talked through the whole thing. Doctor almost missed catching baby at 10:35 am. My water was broken by Doctor when I was 10cm dilating and pushing.
With youngest decided to have home water birth. It progressed same way as first back ache at around midnight that I could time. Only this time I had my SIL to talk to, she was there to watch over our oldest just in case. I bounced on a yoga ball, then when I was getting close to pushing I went into the water birth tub and did so. Water broke on my third push. Baby came around 8 am. The water helped with pain.
Now for the pain, yes it hurts. Pushing for me was a relief for both labors, took the pressure off. The part that hurts a bit more was the baby crowning, stings, but that passes within a couple minutes then it felt like the baby slipped right out. With both my girls they were a week overdue.
I wasn't even dilated with the first until I went into labor. I know that because we had the induction talk the same day I went into labor. Actually I had induction talk with second baby same day before I had her too. Second baby we didn't do cervical checks, since they are pointless.
Healing wise. I had second degree tear with both babies. I used Peri bottle with warm water instead of toilet paper for few months after. Also used tuck pads, and cloth postpartum reusable pads as disposable pads were irritating. Both times I didn't have sex again until around five months postpartum, we went slow.
Emotionally I had PPD, has nothing to do with natural labor or not, with both babies. First one I didn't bond with her until she was around six months old because of PPD. Second one I wised up and put my placenta in pills. Helped my emotional healing tons.

I had IV's of fluids with both, even though I didn't have any meds...I always like to watch them do it...lol!

First we did hemlock, second no IV at all. Loved the freedom lol. Oh and I was also drinking water and eating during the home birth labor.

lol Needles have never bothered me, I just like watching..hehehe
If we owned a house of our own, I'd definitely want a home birth.

My first I have in to an epi after 14 hours and still only being 3cm. He was face up and 9.5lbs. The back labor was painful and I made the mistake of going to the hospital too early and got strapped to the stupid bed. My second was a cake walk. I went without pain meds. The birth ball helped a ton. It didn't get super uncomfortable until transition but it was more extreme pressure that bothered me than the pain itself. I have a really high pain tolerance though. I had a first degree tear bc I pushed him out too quickly just to get rid of that pressure haha. It stung but felt good getting him out. If I had to do it again I'd go naturally. Way better experience and I felt like I healed faster

I had all natural with my first, and plan the same with this one. I was 18 at the time My pregnancy and labor were pretty textbook. At exactly 40 weeks (on my dd) I started having contractions around 8pm. Went to bed, woke up with stronger contractions around 1, tried to go back to sleep but couldn't so put in a movie. Contractions kept progressing, closer together and harder. About 3 am they were coming every 2-5 mins so we headed to the hospital. Took them about an hour and a half to get me completely checked in to l&d, they checked me around 5:30 and I was 8-9 cm. Got me into an actual l&d room and hooked me to all the monitors. My labor slowed down when they checked me in because they put me on "fall precautions" like they do everyone at that hospital. Anyway, at about 7:15 I threw up, my water broke (on its own, in a big gush..like a balloon popped) and 13 mins and 3 pushes later (with the help of a suction cup/vacuum thing) DS was born. 7:28 am, 8lbs3.7oz, 20 1/2 in long
