What would you do?? Supporting a babies head...

posted 1st Mar
A friend of mine apparently posted a video that she took of her LO he is a little over 2 weeks old. I know for a fact a 2 week old can't support there head at all and needs it supported, but apparently the daddy was sitting with him on the floor and making him "dance" around and they weren't supporting his head and it was going everywhere. What would you do? And what kind of damage can this cause to the baby if they don't have their heads supported???? Other people commented saying how it's dangerous and she said it's not me it's his dad, and another girl said it's her responsibility as the mother to protect her child but it's like she doesn't care  ....I know it's not my baby but I am worried for him now that I know she claimed to be able to care for a newborn but she is letting his neck flop all over the place and I am sure it can be harmful but I don't know what kind of harm it can cause...

You mind your own business and don't pass judgement over one thing. And if you're THAT concerned call CPS don't talk about her behind her back.

Letting their head bounce around can cause shaken baby syndrome. Which may or may not leave long term, permanent effects. Honestly, if she has had people telling her it is dangerous and she doesn't care or doesn't seemed concerned then there is nothing you can do. I guess you can send her a message and just let her know it is dangerous and can cause shaken baby syndrome and maybe find some websites with info on it to link her to. After that you can just hope for the best for the little boy.

I didn't say a damn thing to her so I am halfway minding my business, I just figured I would ask and see what it can cause to happen so I can let her know. I put about the claiming part because she claimed she took care of her nephew and niece from birth to whatever age when she was only 9. She is 17 so I am sure she may need help taking care of her baby or at least tips, and I know she doesn't know all the risks that can happen with things because she asks about stuff like that all the time. I am not judging her, or talking about her behind her back, I am saying if she is doing that and thinks it's ok then I would say if people are trying to warn her that it can harm her baby but she doesn't take that advice it kind of sounds like someone who doesn't care. I didn't say she doesn't care....I said it seems as if she doesn't care. This is a girl whose had a lot of problems and I am hoping she takes the tips from other mothers or her family members who are trying to help her our since she is a new mom.

I will let her know!! Thank you. I am not trying to judge, but she has had a few things concern a lot of people with the way she is parenting, and maybe she doesn't know I am not sure. But I will try that and see if it helps her that way I at least know I did something to help her see what it can cause in case she didn't realize!! I am hoping she will take the precautions and realize that the people who are telling her this only want to help her and what not!!

There are a lot of things new moms may not know until someone tells them. Nice informative advice can only help. Hopefully she won't feel insulted by it.

Is this the same person you posted about having sex?
Maybe you should stop being her 'friend'.

Yes it can cause them a lot of harm bouncing them around letting their head flop.

When you are the perfect new mom, get back to me. I'll give you a trophy. Seriously. You don't think of half the stuff you should as a new parent. You learn as you go. But if people are telling her and she's ignoring it, there's no use even wasting your breath. And if people have already addressed the issue, it is you just talking behind someone's back because I doubt you're going to be the deciding factor on making her listen.

It can cause shaken baby syndrome

I know my son had decent neck control at 2 weeks(he could lift his head since birth) but I still wouldn't do such a thing to a newborn.

You could say something but obviously she doesn't care since she is ignoring everyone else who has told her its dangerous. I personally would leave it alone since she's not listening to anyone else or call cps.

Yeah because being 18 and a first time mom makes her so much better than this 17 year old first time mom. FFS. Someone just wants to bitch so they don't feel bad when they screw up.
