Vacation without your LO
posted 28th Feb
What age do you think your LO should be before you leave them with their grandparents for a weekend? How about for a week? I'm just curious about what your ladies thoughts were on this.

LO is 8 months and I've never even left her overnight. So I think it would be a long time before I could leave her for a week.

My oldest was 6 weeks the first time she did a night away. By 9 months she had done a week, and a few weekends. There was one 3 week in there but that was for a special circumstance and it was hard as hell. My youngest done a night or two and will be doing her first weekend away at 15 months.

Lol. I wish I could find someone to watch my LO overnight. That would be nice.

My 3 year old has never even stayed a night away from me.

Heathen was just shy of 2 when we left her with grandparents for a weekend.
Not that we didn't trust anyone, but they live 500+ miles away and DH is military so we don't get the luxury of a vacation

Depends on the parent. My son is 4.5 and I haven't even spent a night away from him yet except when I had LO last September. Was the most miserable 2 nights away everrrrr.

Mine have stayed overnight from me a time or two, but just next door at my parents.
I could never go on a vacation or anything like that without them. I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself and I'd just be sad and miss them the whole time. lol

Lo is 14 months and I'm still too paranoid to do a night away. My Inlaws would be overjoyed if I did though. They'd love a grandparents sleepover. I'd feel way more comfortable now than I would have when she was younger though.

I think my kids were around 1 or so. I only let my parents or my sister and her husband watch my kids overnight. They have never been anywhere else. Im paranoid! lol

I don't know if I think there is an age they "should" be for that. Probably just whatever age the parents and the kid would be comfortable with it.
I would stay with my grandparents when my parents traveled when I was little, like as early as 1-2 years. Even flew down to OKC (where they live) by myself when I was 6.
DH and I will probably be going on our (late) honeymoon sometime in the next 2 years or so, and won't be bringing DS.

My boys were at least 3 before they did any overnights. I have a 6, 4, and 2 year old and cannot even think of leaving them for a week with anyone.

Heathen is 4 now and I'll be leaving her with a friend for a few days next week.

For the weekend, maybe 7. For a week, 9 or 10.
Right now that thought is not even in our head, lol. But I'm guessing at those ages we would probably be comfortable with it. Probably.

Dean was maybe 6 months and he went for 2 nights with his godmother
Jade was almost 2 months, and it was 1 night, with my aunt for valentines dayMaks was 3 months... and that was few days because we went to my husbands high school reunion, like 600 miles away,
I trust my mom and aunts... if they hadn't raised me and i didnt have the best child hood, maybe i would feel diff, but i want my kids to be able to do everything i was able to do and have awesome relationships with them...
