Big four year old going to preschool!

posted 28th Feb
J starts preschool Monday. For some reason this terrifies the heck out of me. I am beyond excited for him and I think he'll thrive and mature a bit for his age. But it's just that fear of entrusting one of the most precious things in my life to other people. I turned in the enrollment forms and payment this morning and have felt a bit like crying all day. lol

Tell me I'm not the only overly-attached mom out there. Hah.

Nope. I cried the first day my son went to kindergarten and he didn't care at all he was excited lol. He didn't go to pre-school because I wasn't ready lol( I kinda regret it now)

For three full days a week, including the summer program, I'm paying $120 a week. It's a lot pricier than some of the other preschools around here, but it's also a private school and in a better district than the one I live in. I toured a few different schools and this one just seemed perfect.

If I could, I'd probably wait for him to just start kindergarten. But, he's got some social issues I want him to work on and I think starting him in preschool is the best thing. I'm gonna miss that booger.

Aw! I hope he/she does well! I wanted to get J in preschool last year but we just couldn't afford it at the time.   It's so hard to just be happy about it. lol

We're going tomorrow to get his supplies.

It will be good for him. My son is pretty behind in school because I didn't pu him in pre-k and I feel really bad about it

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that.   Is the school understanding of that? Do they try to help catch him up or do they kinda give him a hard time? That's one of the things I'm worried about with J.

Yes they are very understanding and helpful. We have had many meetings with his teacher and pre-k and 1st grade teachers. They all give us suggestions of what to do to help him at home and let us know what they are doing with him at school. His teacher is great! We live on a military base so most of the kids here have been through pre-k for 2 years. He catching up but he's still behind.
