Dad Boot Camp

How do you feel about the father of your child going to a class to learn some of the pregnancy/parenting issues? My doctor's office offers it for free and it's only a 3 hour class (men only) and I am interested in SO going and he is interested also. He has never really been around many babies in his life and I think it would be good for him. I went to school for early childhood and work in child cares so I know basics when it comes to caring for children. Would you have your child's father do this? Use the poll or feel free to comment about it.
Also would you have them go later in the pregnancy like after 30 weeks or before then?

My husband did it before our daughter was born in 2009 and he loved it.
he too had never really been around kids, and it was a good class to give him a basic idea of what he was in for. and he liked that it was all guys lol

I would talk to my SO about it, but if he said he didn't want to do it, I wouldn't push it. I had to learn as I went, and even though I did have take the classes offered by my hospital, I learned much more about what worked for me after we got home.

My SO is completely out of touch with anything "feminine" including taking care of children, so he will be going whether he likes it or not, mainly so that he gets when i do finally conceive that I'm not "being a baby and whining" but that pregnancy is horribly uncomfortable. We also can't teach each other (we get frustrated and start yelling) so it would be easier for him to learn how to change diapers and stuff from someone else. I would probably have him go early i the pregnancy and then for a refresher closer to due date but that is because I know he has a terrible memory.

I wish jimmy went to that one but he wouldnt. He helped out alot with his niece so he knew something but i lectured him alot about anything and everything the entire 40 weeks so he was pretty good once baby came. but yes i think its a good idea.

DH attended a class for dads after we had attended a new parents one together. He didn't say whether he learned a lot or not, but he said he wasn't sorry he went even if he didn't come home with a lot to say about it (he's not super talkative anyway). However, that class was more about issues dealing w/pregnant wife and things to consider about becoming a dad (I think), not really changing diapers or anything. We are going together to a baby care class for that next month.
