Transgenders and bathrooms
posted 28th Feb
Phoenix is having a huge debate over this right now, passing LGBT laws that also allow people to go to any restroom they identify with.
There are opponents to the law, stating "This is about the person who will use gender identity or expression as their ruse to gain access to opposite-sex facilities”
Some think this is ridiculous. What are your thoughts? Personally, I'm so paranoid and only see the bad in humanity (I'm working on that). I cant help but think of the maybe 1% of people who would abuse this law as an excuse to prey on others. Even though I'm all for gay rights, marriage, and equality, I'm so paranoid about this one. I know I dont make sense.
Would you be nervous if you were alone in the restroom and the opposite gender came in?

The opposite sex or the opposite gender? Opposite gender-might weird me out, opposite sex same gender? Fine.

It would not bother me personally as an adult, but the possibilities, especially involving children are hard to ignore.

Nope. I'd be fine with it. I carry mace in my bag and I know how to defend myself if something were to happen. Besides, it's not like there's anything stopping men from coming in the women's bathroom to prey on women anyhow. If someone wants to attack a woman, they'll do what it takes to try. We women need to be able to defend ourselves in case that DOES happen, not to be paranoid, but to keep ourselves safe.

as long as there are doors and I'm not going in front of anyone I wouldn't care
quoteposted 28th Feb
Wouldn't bother me, I mean if someone really wanted to pray on a female in the bathroom they would regardless if they were or weren't allowed in there.

I think bathrooms should be separated by sex, not gender. They're even set up differently based on sex.

How do you know though? What's to stop a man from putting on a dress as an excuse? That's my fear.
If it wasn't for predators, I could care less about this. Use whatever bathroom you want. Im so damn paranoid though

Right, I mean...it's not like we don't have doors on the stalls. Plus...the concept of a unisex bathroom isn't that strange to me

As long as there are stalls with locks on them I don't care. Don't want anyone seeing my business, no matter what gender you identify as

If I saw a guy walk in, I'd assume he either went in the wrong one by accident or I'd freak and worry he had the worst intentions. I'm also very paranoid lol.
While I think the law has good intentions, I know that there will be a lot of people using this to prey on others. Probably more people abusing it than people who will be helped. Just my opinion though.

Hmmm. Part of me says there are doors on the stalls. But I also know I can't overpower a large man who might be abusing the law in order to prey on people.

If you have a penis, you need to use the mens room and vice versa. I dont care how your dressed, what you look like, if you've had surgery to get a penis, ect.
