Throwing fits when he doesnt get his way

My 1 year old has me wrapped around his finger.
Whenever I refuse to give him boob, ( since he gets it ALL the time) he will scream, and screech and throw a fit until he gets it. I usually just give it to him but I didnt this tim,e and hes just freakin out. Daddy went in there with him in his room and he was still freakin out so we shut the door and I hate it!

I never let him CIO but when I literally just nurse him and put my boob away and he starts freaking out I feel like what else can I do. Im not going to constantly nurse him and keep my boob out.


ugh I dont know what to do anymore

He only wants me for one thing and if he doesnt get it, its like life is just over for him.

I say give him the boob

That's not CIO. That's ignoring a temper tantrum, and there's nothing wrong with that. Kids need boundaries, even at one.

Me too. Maybe he was still hungry? My son pulls off and looks around when he's nursing all the time. It doesn't mean he's full. He gets distracted very easily.

Dd is 1 in two weeks. I just give her the boob back. She pulls off constantly and only nurses while laying in top of me now. But she also is having issues eating solids. Though even if she was eating solids like a pro I'd probably still give the boob back.

He needs to be able to get his feelings out don't think of it as he is being bad but hasn't yet obtained the skills of telling you how he feels and dealing with his feelings in a proper way. He is only one and this will take years. Now if you are set on what sounds like partial weaning, offer him love and understanding. Give him words for how he feels and tell him it's okay to feel that way. Try destractimg him with something else. Maybe he needs a sippy cup?

Yeah we use a sippy cup for his water. I would like to partial wean. Like have it be a part of our night time routine. I find it to be more enjoyable for both of us when I wait to nurse him and have a full boob. It seems like hes always draining my supply before it gets a chance to refill.
Im working days now so he doesnt nurse for half the day.

What kinds of REAL food does he get or is he still eating purees? He's more then likely hitting a growth spurt or he's hungry. A kid won't overeat. I'd give him boob. If breastfeeding is becoming too much, pump it and give it to him in a sipper cup (since you said he's one now).

Its really not that hes hungry whne he wants to nurse. He wants to know he can have it. As soon as he is done and shows no more interest Ill put my boob away and thats when he throws a fit. It could be right after he eats solids too and I know hes not hungry.
He eats all different kinds of fruits and veggies. Pureed and finger foods.

So it's more like a comfort thing? Does he take a binky or have a lovey you could get him used to instead of boob all the time?

He really doesnt use anything else. No binkie, no bottle, no blanket, or lovey. Just me lol
