re: I'm all for homeopathic remedies but (rant)

I never disputed that.

Do you have a point or just want to judge?

Colloidal silver. My sister and her family use it occasionally, but it hasn't really proven effective.

This is from the National Library of Medicine, febrile seizures are harmless and do NOT happen @ a fever of 103 very often. A fever of 103 is barely above a low grade.

Yes he has. I'm not sure if she didn't pick up his prescription, refused it, or whatever I just know she's not giving him them. She's using silver, teas, and essential oils to treat this.

Thanks, I couldn't remember the name of it...just recently (like within the last 3 months) heard of it because I've been looking into more natural treatments myself.

I'm sorry your cousin's son is sick, and I know you wish there was something you could do, but I don't know what your options are, outside of calling CPS, but I don't know that they would get involved. On one hand, I can understand the homeopathy and whatnot, but on the other, I also know that there are some instances where the benefits of using antibiotics outweighs my dislike of them. Strep throat is definitely one of those instances.

Strep itself should be treated with antibiotics. Ear infections can be treated in other manners, my pedi and I agree to a treatment of garlic oil for my daughters ear infections. We only treat with antibiotics if the infection gets bad. And fevers in themselves aren't dangerous. Honestly unless she is an abusive parent and you know that, meaning she harms her chidren with intent. I think you should stay out of it, as it is not your business. Fevers themselves are not harmful and are actually very beneficial.

She got his fever down to 103.4 after cool washcloths to the forehead, ice packs in the armpits and behind the knees. Febrile seizures happen frequently with his siblings. This child has had 2 so far (that I know of) in the last 6 months.

I really hope you are not advocating for calling CPS. If so you are a POS that deserves to have karma rain down on you.

Exactly my thinking. I'm all for the body's immune system doing what its supposed to do but sometimes western medicine is needed. Also I don't wanna get involved cause I hate confrontation. I posted this more to just bitch about it.

I am not doubting the existence of such fevers. However they do not cause brain damage, they are actually very harmless seizures. A 103 fever is a pretty low non dangerous fever.

The silver she's using is a natural antibiotic. You may not agree with what she's doing, but to call CPS would be a dick move.

Wow. I said at least 3 times I don't want to get involved. This post is merely a rant...
