Too much fluid...

posted 10th Jun
Today I had my 36 week check up and had to have a stress test done.. They had trouble finding a heartbeat so they did a quick ultra sound and saw that my baby had quite a bit of extra fluid... My question is, what are the bad side affects of having too much fluid? They told me I was at an 18.. 23 being the max.. No idea what that means....

Thats not too much fluid. I dont know what they told you. 18 is awesome. Mine was always around 15-25 or so everytime I got an AFI.

hmm never knew it could be too high.. I had the opposite problem.. my fluids were at a4 and anything below a 5 is considered dangerous.. not fun

I think I was at 4 too with my 2nd. My doctor freaked me out because at my 20 u/s she did a quick scan and rushed me over to the hospital for a more in depth u/s. No one knew what "oligo" was (thats all she wrote on the paper when she sent me over)...I thought my baby had some major deformity or something. Finally I overheard a someone saying it was low fluid. I had to go to a perinatologist until I was 32 weeks ( the nearest of which is an hour away) and I had to have an NST and an u/s done every other week until I had her. Thankfully she's perfectly fine and healhty.

Hmm odd she'd tell me I was on the higher side.. I may have misunderstood what she said on my levels.. She looked worried and told me she'd be calling my doctor as soon as possible.. Ah well. Thanks anyways ladie's!  )

Thats good everything turned out ok.. I went in for an NST at 35 wks and they randomly decided to do a fluid check also and found it was low so they admitted me right then and there not really explaining to me what was going on so I freaked thinking it was something horrible because they were talking about inducing and all that but they just ended up putting an iv and I sat there for 4 hours getting pumped with fluids and went home.. so now I go in every week for an NST and ultrasound to make sure everything is fine and so far it is thank god

Tell me about it lol 2 weeks ago it was him possibly coming early and now my doctor is thinking that he might come late and that I'll have to be induced or have a c section... either way I can't win with this little guy
