Short Cervix...Hospitalized!!!

posted 27th Feb
So I've Had a short cervix pretty much since my 20 week ultrasound....I've been staying at around 2 for over a month....Well Today I went in for my bi weekly ultrasound and my cervix measured .7 The Tech Left the room to talk to the doctor. My Doctor came out and tells me to go straight to the hospital that I am being admitted. So here I am in the hospital, No idea whats going on....My question is....Has anybody else expeienced this and please share your stories...I could really use some reassurance right about now....I'm so worried about my little guy considering I'm only 28 weeks...

You'll prolly just stay on strict bed rest until your body can't stay preg any longer. Keep LO in as long as possible. The longer they're in the better. Good luck.

Just do whatever the doctors tell you and rest as much as possible. Hopefully your little guy stays baking a while longer yet. Though good news is he is past viability and if born now has a VERY good chance of surviving.

I don' remember my numbers but at my 21 week ultrasound they said i was short and funneling. So they sent me to a specialist who told me to stay on bedrest for a week and come back. He then told me that i was too far along for a cerclage but to take it easy. around 26 weeks or so i woke up in a lot of pain and went to the hospital and they said i had a bladder or kidney infection (i don't remember which).
a few days later they called and said i needed to get steroid shots and then they put me on a terbutaline pump to give me constant medication to stop contractions that i couldn't feel. they also had me on a contraction monitor. i was still working this whole time too. at 36 weeks i had contractions and went to the hospital but nothing. i stopped taking terbutaline at 37 weeks and 2 weeks later he came. his due date was june 1 and he was born may 28th. so it can have a happy ending

Thank You everybody for the warm thoughts and prayers as we surely need them. I failed to mention I have been getting 17p every week since around 20 weeks and have taken 2 doses of steroids so hopefully this will help...Hospital bedrest I think is even worse than being on bedrest at home....But Hopefully all works out and things start getting better.....I can't even imagine him being born right now...They said today he is 2 lbs 8 oz. But atleast his survival chances are rather high at thi9s point =]

I was on hospital bed rest for a month so if you need someone to commiserate with feel free to pm me anytime.

If u make it to 35-36 weeks they'll prolly let you go home since its fairly safe to go into labor after that at home. Good luck.

Thank you so much...I am sure I will take you up on that....It's def. quiete boring here...I find out tomorrow if I get to go home or if I have to stay...Doctor says chances are I'm atleast going to be here until I hit 32 weeks...He hasn't really informed me of much at all.....So just patiently waiting...
