If it were me, I would call the director and explain the impression that you were given by the secretary and add that that impression was one of the factors why you have chosen not to enroll your child. It is def. hard to give honest feedback but they need to hear it.

The school I went to was a private catholic school in Illinois and our parents had to sign a letter acknowledging the discipline policy. Though I never got hit, I remember a boy falling asleep in class in third grade and the teacher chucked a dictionary at his head.

Just Googled that.. It is legal in Florida. It says it was banned in 1993 in Illinois though.. Or I wonder if this is just public schools?

Ah I hate confrontation, but you are correct. It is a shame because if it weren't for her I would consider the school, but she said she has been there for four years so I can't imagine this being the first time she has treated a child poorly in front of a parent.

im sorry that happened but my son goes to catholic and i went, nothing like that ever happened, one of my biggest concerns was discipline and how they handled it there was nothing in the registration packet about them being able to hit my children, my mom said when she was in the nuns would smack their hands with rulers but that was 50 years ago...

i would confront the director about what happend and explain that is the reason u will not enroll there and like i said write a review somewhere...

As a prek teacher though I'd be completely embarrassed and sad if someone based my program off of someone who works in another dept in my building
