A vent and a question

So with both ds1&2 I was 3 cm by 38 weeks and 4 cm by 40 weeks. Naturally when I started having contractions a couple days ago I thought surely I'm starting to dilate right? Nope. 1 cm. Sigh. I'm not in a hurry for him to be born I am just thrown off because I expected to follow the same pattern.
So I'm 37 w 2 d and my mom wants me to come visit her 3 hours away when I'll be 38 w 4 d overnight. Would you do it?

I don't think I'd be comfortable doing it. I had Matthew at 38 weeks 1 day, so I wouldn't trust my body to last long enough! You're so close!!

Good god no. I had NO signs of labor with my son, then BAM 4 minute apart contractions perfectly regularly at 2 am.

Yeah I was feeling weird about it. Maybe I'll have him by then anyway.
