special needs and child support question?

posted 27th Feb
Does the costs of special needs children go into support or is it different?

BD is on disability and to my understanding they will not \'make' him get a job, and will not take money from his disability.
I have provided my lawyer with a list of 76 appointments that are 2 hours from our home.

Can he be head responsible for half of the cost? It's about $100-$130 pending on the rate of gas, and timing of the appointment. EACH TRIP.
-sometime we have to go 3 times a month.

Out of the 76 appointment at least 20 of them were during his visit he refused to take him to, so instead he canceled his visit and I took LO.

I would think paying Half o his expenses would be reasonable. But you Gould already be getting a disability check for LO so that's almost like a child support check IMO.

HE can't get a job with disability because they will take the disability away. I would look into it for your child though. It would help.

He is on disability for ADHD and Bi Polor... a lot of people work with these diagnoses.

The child should be getting it. When my dad went on it my brother got a check too.

I totally understand what you are saying, I get a small amount from OSDP, which still doesn't cover the costs.

I guess he will never have to take on the responsibility of LO, it seriously makes my heart hurt because he continues to have children even when he is unable to support them.

I didnt realize u were in Canada. Idk how it works there. But even with the disability check for LO he should still pay half the travel expenses. The disability one I would say would be more for regular care of the child. Special needs care like excess appts and travel is different. Unless the disability check was for LOs disability. If its just because dad is on disability then I wouldn't think that should be for the special needs expenses.
