The pressure is a normal part of the end of pregnancy. I had it bad too.

I just turned 38 weeks today and it sounds like you're having the same thing as me. I have an appointment later today and gonna have them check me to see if I'm dialated at all, I been told by numerous people that its all normal but I would call your OB just to put you at ease, thats what I did.

Pelvic pain and pressure is normal this late in pregnancy. Are you sure you're just having BH contractions?

I went to the ER last Thursday night and they examined me for 20 mins and said I wasn't having contractions so didn't even bother to check to see if I was dialated at all and just sent me home and ever since I been having, sharp back pains, intense cramping and lots of pressure so I'm hoping when I go to my check up today they will check for dialation.

Dilation doesn't really tell you anything so that's why the ER didn't check.

Dialation would just ease my mind a bit because from what friends and other people have been telling me my OB was supposed to be checking me for dialation ever since I was going in every week for appointments instead of every 2 weeks or 4 but they haven't yet.

Yeah but being dilated doesn't mean anything at all and checking for dilation CAN put you at risk for infection.

surprised ER took you at all. Most ER"s won't take pregnant women.. they send them straight to L&D.

I certainly wouldnt' let an ER nurse/doctor check my cervix.

and no reason for your doctor to check your cervix at every appt. Some will, some won't. It doesn't really make a difference one way or another.

if the pain is timable, wtih contractions every 3-5 minutes apart, lasting a minute each, consistently for at least 2 hours after you've been drinking plenty of fluids... give L&D a call.

I already have a bacteria infection that they have to take care of with antibiotics when I go into labor but they are supposed to be checking me every week.

they who? according to who? they don't have to check you every week. I'm assuming you mean GBS... which is pretty common.. not a big deal.

Why are they 'supposed' to be checking you? There's really no point in it.

you said the examined you for 20 minutes.. I'm assuming they put you on a monitor and watched baby's heart rate and for contractions right? if you weren't in labor... why should they check for dilation? until 39 weeks... nothing they will do anyway, they dont' care if you're closed, or 3 cm if you aren't in active labor
