My knees hurt so bad that I could cry. This has been going for a few weeks and every day it gets worse. They hurt when I sit, they hurt when I walk, they hurt when I do ANYTHING. Ugh. End of pointless bitching session.

Anytime my knees start to hurt all I do is elevate and ice them for a half hour. It heals them fast and I've been doing this for years.

Hope it helps!

Have you tried taking vit B? Low vit B or iron can cause joint pain.

Are they swollen? If so you should see a Dr to find the cause of inflammation. If it continues you might want to see one anyways to have some tests run and rule out things like vitamin deficiencies or thyroid issues.

Thanks! I'll definitely try it. I don't know what's going on, but they've cracked literally my entire life and have been causing me pain now. So do my elbows, ankles, wrists, and fingers. It's not the most pleasant thing in the world.

I had my iron checked not too long ago and it was fine. I have not tried taking Vit B though.

What are some symptoms of a thyroid problem? Someone mentioned that to me before, but I don't know what made them say it.

My knees are somewhat swollen just as of recently.

I have had no injuries to my knees (or anywhere else) ever.

i had bad knee pain like that for a long time. i finally went to the doctor and he refused to talk to me about my knees. just told me that it was my thyroid. he told me that i am fat b/c of my thyroid problem and sent me for testing on my thyroid which came back normal. my knees eventually quit hurting thankfully but it took like 6 months and i am always afraid it will come back b/c it was torture. if i go to him for anything he tells me it is my thyroid. no insurance means i can't get a new doctor easily

Okay. I sort of read your other post as well.

You usually need a referral to see a specialist, and they'll often want specific tests run first anyways, so I'd see a PCP first. Try to get an ANA run as well as an ESR, RA test, and the normal blood pannel and checks for vitamins.

These will help start looking and ruling out things like autoimmune, RA, Lupus, stuff like that. Also have your thyroid checked. Thyroid can cause joint pains, loss of hair, low energy, problems with your cycles, depression. Lots of stuff.

If nothing shows up, look at your food. Gluten can cause problems in a lot of people and they don't realize it. it can even show up after you haven't had a problem for year. It can cause aches as well.

Lastly, fibro. I have that one (which is why I know about all the testing). There isn't really a test for that one. it's more a process of eliminating everything else.

I have brought it up to my doctor twice and he ignores it. I have kidney and bladder issues and my kidney is working on quitting on me lately so that's obviously his biggest concern, but it still sucks. I'm in so much pain because of my knees. They've painlessly cracked for years and years... and now they hurt and so do my wrists like crazy. If I have to open a pop/soda bottle or my daughter's sippy cup lid I get shooting pain from the middle of my hand all the way up to my elbow

What an idiot! For a number of reasons. If you are having obvious thyroid issues, some thyroid conditions cause swings of hormones, so may not be detectable by a simple thyroid test.

I hate Dr's like that so much. I had one before that basically like "whatever is wrong with you it because you're fat. Lose weight and you'll be fine."

Um, thanks jerks. lol

Thank you. I had an ANA done a year or so ago and it did not show anything.
I've been losing hair like crazy, I've been extremely exhausted, the obvious joint pain, and I've even asked myself if I'm depressed.. I have horrible mood swings and I'm unhappy a lot of the time and I've never been like this.

Well, depression CAN cause pain, or something could be causing the pain and depression. I'd check thyroid for sure. With a normal ANA the odds of it being Lupus or RA go down. Fibro is still possible (runs with depression as well).
