Medical leave and work

I really need to get my tonsils out asap. It's to the point where if I cough, I can taste blood from how infected they are and how bad my tonsil stone is getting. My doctor told me I need to be off of work for 10 days to 2 weeks just because there's a bleeding risk and my job makes it even more of a risk. I already talked to one of my managers. She said that my health is more important and if I give them at least 2 weeks notice for my surgery that they'll figure something out. They'll also hold my job for a month.

I just got promoted so I'm not going to be able to get paid medical leave for a while. I barely make anything anyway. Idk how I'll pay my bills while I'm off after my surgery but at the same time I miss work from being sick all the time. As of now, I have medical assistance(even though they switched it to be under an actual medical plan), daycare assistance and I'm on WIC. I don't get any help with money because of the fact I live with my parents and I've tried every way to get more help because I'm sinking from my bills even though I cut them down to almost nothing.

Is there any help out there for temporarily being out of work due to medical reasons? I'm not expecting my whole paycheck but enough to help me get by for the time I'm out.

I would be asking why your benefits didn't transfer with your promotion... I'm not sure of any help that you could get while off work with out like short term disability.

I was part time. I didn't get any benefits, not even vacation time. I have to be working full time for a certain amount of months before it builds up. I work for Walmart.

ETA: I hit enter too soon. That's probably the problem there. Most places will credit your time in years and hours worked, when promoting even if it's from part to full time.

Yep. So even if they did offer some kind of help, it'd be impossible for me to get any of my managers to tell me.
