But if it were me I'd stock up on meats and pasta, rice, beans, sauces, and maybe some drinks and rice milk (personally).

I agree. Meats are pretty expensive but since you can freeze them and most times make the pack into a couple seperate meals, I also suggest OP does meats

Oh yes I do plan on getting a ton of chicken because that's basically the main meat we eat and drinks are a must, thanks!

Yeah I do that all of the time but it's hard because we live with SOs parents and share the fridge/freezer so I don't have much space.

Yeah I buy fresh fruits and vegetables! But maybe you could get some and make some sauces and freez them. Chicken is pretty cheap, I stock up on sone steaks for special occasions. But I'm not much help because other than meat we basically shop weakly and buy fresh stuff! But drinks would be smart.

Yeah I'll still shop weekly for dairy and fruits/veggies, but hopefully I'll have the main stuff taken care of for a while at least.

Trying to think of things others haven't mentioned...
Canned tomatoes
Honey
Sugar (white, brown, whatever- they last!)
Other baking ingredients- baking powder or soda, salt, cornstartch, flower...
Stock
Spices?
Frozen drinks if you use them, or drink mixes- hot chocolate, coffee, tea!
Cereals, oatmeal
Canned fish
Veggies that last, like root veggies or cabbage... Or you can get some canned veggies
Thats all I can think of that I would get that hasn't been mentioned. Good luck! Wish I had 400$ to spend!

Broths. I don't always have time to make my own stock having the cartons of organic chicken broth around is nice.
