I went in planning a vaginal delivery, obviously, and they wouldn't allow him in the room when I got my Epi. That was my first problem. Then being told I was having an emergency section, problem #2. There was no way I would have made it being strapped down

Goodness. My two sections I was awake for I knew I was having them. My first was an emergency one and I was put to sleep so no one was allowed back there with me.

They tried to do it to me, my anesthesiologist fought them and yelled at them not too. It was strange when it was all happening, but I'm glad they didn't. It freaked me out just thinking about it.

Everything I have read lately said you could request they don't do it, and also the lower the curtain if you wanted to see it all happen

I don't recall both of my arms being strapped, just the one with the iv's in it, which made some sense to me, as I didn't want to bend my arm and interfere with the iv. It may also be for the cases where a woman might panic, flailing arms are not a good thing when a dr. is performing abdominal surgery, and I'm sure there are women who panic, I know I felt an overwhelming sense of dread, if I wasn't already numb from the neck down I probably would have hopped off that table and ran for it. I had an unplanned non emergency csection.
