You might want to consider a midwife in a birthing center or a home birth.

Quoting linneamarleen:" Hi everybody, my name is Alex and I'll relocate from Cologne in Germany to Houston,TX in a few weeks ... [snip!] ... By the way: Can somebody recommend a good OB/Gyn and a pediatric in West Houston/Inner Loop? Greetings from Cologne, Alex."

I'm in North Houston, my OB is in The Woodlands though. Not worth the drive.
No advice, just welcome.

Welcome to BG and to the US.

Birth experiences here vary greatly, but in general, birth is pretty "clinical" here. It depends on what type of provide you use and where you give birth. There are baby friendly hospitals here, but some areas do not have them. If you want a hands off birth with minimal intervention, a home birth or birth center is probably the best option. Birth centers are usually freestanding, attended by midwives, and fairly close to a hospital. Unfortunately, most insurance plans do not cover home birth and many do not cover birth centers. Hospital birth with a midwife is a good alternative if your insurance doesn't cover home birth or a birth center. I had a fantastic drug-free hospital birth with a midwife. The hospital I delivered supported natural birth and breastfeeding. They are actually in the process of becoming a baby friendly hospital.

I love how people automatically assume people are fake so they mash the spam button.

No, your questions were fine. People on here are just stupid sometimes. Well, a lot of the time.
