5 hours

posted 26th Feb
Here is my dilemma. So my daughter is 3 months old and has acid reflux. Im very worried something else might be wrong because she does spit up more than normal and is constantly hungry after she spits up.
My daughters pedi ordered an ultrasound to see her stomach, to figure out if its normal reflux or a more serious condition.
Her pedi reassures me that shes a healthy baby and will out grow the acid reflux.
I call to make my daughters ultrasound appointment, right before I get off the phone the receptionist told me that my daughter cannot eat five hours before her appointment. WTH. So my first thought was, I'm suppose to starve my child?
I know they want to see her stomach but for her not to eat for 5 hours? I'm not sure if im comfortable with that. Would you ladies do that?

If thats what had to be done then yea. I mean the last thing you want is to screw the test up and have to do it all over again. Is it scheduled for like first thing in the morning?

Maybe make it during the time of one of her naps so she has been asleep the entire 5 hours before hand (if she sleeps like that).

Hopefully she will sleep good. I know other moms have had to do the same thing. Stay strong its only one time. She wont starve in 5 hours just be ready with food as soon as its done.

If it were needed to figure out what's wrong, absolutely.

When my Dd was 3-4 months old she had a bad episode that landed us in the er. They didn't allow her to eat the whole time we were there in case they needed to do tests or surgery. It was hard, but definitely worth finding out what was wrong with her.

I had to do this same thing when my son was 3 months he is a very noisy baby I mean noisy as I type this he's next to me in his swing snoring but he makes tons of strange noises and the dr was afraid he had an under developed trachea so we went for xrays and he was not aloud to eat for 5 hrs and his appt was at 10a so I fed him at 5:30a (cause I figured we would have to wait about 30 mins in the lobby and we did) and I just fed him as much as he would take even though it was more than normal and I put him in some pjs that he could wear to the dr (kinda thicker cause its cold here) I got him out of bed and in his car seat while he was asleep he stayed asleep in the car all the way there (took about an hr) he woke up when we got there but he was so distracted with being somewhere new he was perfect didn't cry for food once and I was totally stressed that he would be screaming the whole time. We did the xrays and I fed him after he got dressed and he was back asleep for the ride home! Good luck!!!
