Paragard so far is my friend:)

posted 26th Feb
Evening ladies!
So, some of you know I was going to get my tubes tied but Im waiting for our deductible to go down through our insurance. In the meantime I thought long and hard on either getting Mirena again (had for 13 months) after my now 4 year old was born OR trying Paragard.
I researched and could only find bad after bad on Mirena and all these oncoming lawsuits against the consumer. My body just was telling me to do the Paragard, lasts 10 years...don't have to remove it until Feb.2023 ...but I'm sure Ill have my tubes tied by the time I'm then 37 years of age. Lol. So, it is day 2.. mild cramps, sussoped to start period tomorrow according to my now OLD birth control pill pack. I'm hoping this IUD does awesome, I love that its hormone free the most! Keeping my fingers crossed and will try to keep you all updated on progress and how it does.

I hope I can be one who tells a positive story on an IUD, instead of always hearing such negative jazz .

That's my update so far! Thanks for reading.

I loved mirena.

And it's awesome to hear other people that are happy with IUDs. I think they're an EXCELLENT option.

I've had my Paragard since May 2012 and I LOVE it! I randomly take pregnancy tests because my OB advised it just in case it moved or something. The only issue I've had is making my periods a tad bit irregular but nothing too bad. I was 10 days late last month and 5 days early this month.

Mirena was terrible. I'm glad you chose Paragard.

I loved my paragaurd.

The only problem I had was sometimes it poked me and who I was sleeping with at the time. (that looks weird lol. I had it for three years and had two SO's during that time lol)

Good luck! Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky ones and had a bad experience with Paragard. I had it for 5 months(just had it removed 3 weeks ago today) and spent pretty much that whole entire time bleeding nonstop. If it wasn't for the bleeding I would have kept it though. Hope it proves to be a positive experience for you

Thanks ladies! I hope it works for me. I just have a good feeling this was the right choice. I dont mind the heavier and longer cycles. Fine by me, just glad to no more hormones! :-)

If you have any kind of abnormal discharge, go to the doctor immediately. I had Paraguard for almost 3 years and after getting vaginitis/bacterial infections/yeast infections and knowing it was it. I finally went to get it out. Turns out it turned itself upside down, bent and embedded in the right side of my uterus. Dr said if i waited another few months then it would've had to be surgically removed.
