Toddler poopy diapers?
posted 26th Feb
My 2-year-old is generally very good when she pees in her diaper. She either lets me change it when I ask if she needs a new one or takes it off herself so I know she needs a new one. Poop is a whole different story. When she poops she doesn't let me know and when I notice (usually right away because I can usually tell when she's going and if I don't notice then, I definitely smell it) and ask if she needs a new diaper she yells no and runs and hides. I honestly think she'd sit in a smurffy diaper for hours if I'd let her. What the hell? Is this just par for the course with a 2-year-old? Is it some kind of psychological thing I don't understand? Usually once I get her down and start to change her she's fine and doesn't fight it, but I swear she WANTS to sit in a dirty diaper! It's so gross and I feel like as long as she's doing this, she's not ready to even begin to try to potty train which I'd love for her to do in the next few months.

Yeah, my LO was like that. A few times he pooped over night and didn't tell us till we woke up the next morning and did his first change. He would rather sit in it than have it changed. Thank god he's potty trained now and took to pooping in the potty very well.

Most kids I know run because of embarrassment. Maybe thats all it is. You could still try to PT, she cant sit in underwear full of poop the same way as a diaper.
