Quoting 15 weeks with #3!:" I just got back from a Dr. appt with my 6 month old, 5 year old and SO's mother. My 5 year old didn't ... [snip!] ... and that she can spend time by herself to think about it. What else could I have done / can I do next time?? Thanks! "My son is only two but he knows what's expected of him in public and what the right way to act is. I find him acting out more in public because he thinks I won't discipline but I have to, otherwise he would be a holy terror. If he acts out when we're in public, I pull him in close and quietly tell him he's acting poorly and it needs to stop, and that he will be punished if he continues. If he does, I stop what I'm doing and take him to a bathroom where he gets disciplined. Sometimes it happens multiple times but I believe consistency is key.
Quoting Amanda.M:" Watching. My daughter is 4 and is horrible in public most of the time. I have no idea why and what I ... [snip!] ... that you did! Most of the time I work my errands around when I can have someone watch her so I dont have to bring her with me!"
Quoting Blythe.:" I might have taken her in the bathroom and spanked her butt. I don't know though, DD is perfect in public but can be a monster at home. "
Quoting Brittanie Blokker-Brandt:" take things away, whatever is the most precious thing at that moment, its the only thing that partially ... [snip!] ... her how much you appreciate and love when she listens. How special she is when she's good and just go on gushing, they love it!"This too. It was really hard to discipline in the beginning because of his limited understanding but now that he's older, he is attached to certain toys. So those usually get taken away first.
Quoting Blythe.:" I might have taken her in the bathroom and spanked her butt. I don't know though, DD is perfect in public but can be a monster at home. "
